NOTD

I'm really getting into this nail art malarky!

I have completely forgotten where I got this idea from so I apologise in advance if you've seen this before. I didn't come up with the idea myself but was inspired by the picture that I saw!

I believe it was called Art Deco or something like that? I chose to use different colours to the picture that I saw but I think you could do it with pretty much any!

The result was this:

Eeee I am so PROUD I managed to do it without making a mess ha!

I used the Rimmel Stronger as a base coat, and my faithful Sally Hansen Insta Dri topcoat:

The top coat is amazing if you've been thinking of getting one, dries fast, lasts long and is super shiny!

I used Nails Inc Black Taxi as the first coat, Models Own Champagne as the middle, and Nails Inc Regents Palace on the tips.

It's super easy to do, simply put on your base coat and do a full coat of a darker colour, this is where I chose Black Taxi.

Then I used the brush of the Models Own Champagne nail varnish to do 2 circular swipes and cover the nail like below:

It doesn't have to be even, and I ended up filling in the gaps after doing the 2 rounded shapes, as long as you get a clean line!

Then I repeated the same thing again using the purple colour to produce the effect below!

It really is so easy, and once its covered with a top coat you can barely see the different layers

(Excuse my hands in this, they've had a rough week and are in need of some handcream!)

Someone actually asked me where I'd bought the nail stickers from....AMAZING!

I think this would look so good in pretty much any colour combination, can swap the gold for silver and do them in acid pinks and oranges, or pretty pastels for the summer!
I'm really looking forward to doing it for next weekend when I go out with the girls for a double birthday celebration, pink will probably feature on the ends!

Will you be trying this design out? What colours will you pick?

As a side note to this post (it's completely irrelevant to NOTD so please choose to ignore if you wish!):

I took the plunge and FINALLY got the contraceptive implant last week. Was one of those things that I'd been meaning to do for a while, but never quite got round to doing.

I was inspired by Lucy from Lucy Writes to write this, because after reading her post whilst in the waiting room I had to agree! Sometimes it can be seen as a 'taboo' subject and even though millions of people around the world go through the same thing every month it isn't talked about enough, unless something goes horrifically wrong.
(Lucy's post is here)

I've been on the pill for 4/5 years and it was fine, just got fed up of taking tablets all the time and wanted something longer lasting, especially as I want to go travelling at the end of the year and don't want to be fussing around with pills.

I swear, it was so simple, didn't hurt AT ALL ( aside from the pinch of the anaesthetic needle) and was over so quickly!
The student doctor I had had only done a few before but she did it perfectly. I watched the whole thing as I like to see what's going on and I'm not squeamish, and it was fine!

The implant itself is shown below, and is 4cm long and 2/3 mm thick.

The most annoying thing for me was that they pad out the bandage with cotton wool, which was uncomfortable on the inside of the arm and you couldn't get it wet for 2 days, great timing for my body pump class and planned swim...

But for 2 days hassle to live (hopefully) period and pregnancy free for 3 years was worth it in my opinion!

Now that its settled down and I've removed the bandage and butterfly stitches (....and washed!) I barely notice it's there and am left with a tiny little dot that is disappearing before my very eyes.
I bruise like a peach and scar quite badly but I have nothing from this procedure that is worth drawing your attention to.

You can feel it under the skin but I'm not sure you'd notice it if you didn't know it was there!

If you're thinking about it but were put off by the horror stories of the pain, 'cutting open your arm' etc then don't be because in my experience the only reason not to get it is the annoying cotton wool bulge on your arm :)
