Ombre Effect NOTD

Hey there all. I've had a few days off work so have caught up on reading blogs and decided to try some nail art. After reading the amazing PolishYouPretty blog I was inspired by one of the their first tutorials, a look they've called an ombre nail. Simple but effective.

How good does that look. I had to give it a go. To do this nail art you start by choosing a neutral base colour.  I opted for OPI tickle me francey (don't you just love the OPI names). Once your base coat has dried cover around your nails with tape. This just stops you covering the fingers with the dark colour. I used ordinary sellotape and it work just fine.

OPI lincoln after dark, OPI tickle me francey, China glazxe calcium gel fortifier (used as a base coat) and a make up sponge.

Once the nails are taped around the edges it's time to start fading the darker colour in. To do this apply the dark colour to a make up brush and dab on to the tip, starting heavy and then get lighter as you get towards the middle of the nail.

Here's some photo's of my attempts

Photos were taken before I applied top coat so they look a bit bumpy. For my first attempt I'm please and it's one I'll be trying again to get it to look as good as polishyoupretty.com does.

What do you think of this manicure? Do you like trying Nail Art? I can't wait to try a few more of there designs.

Love M
