Make Up Revolution Renaissance Lipsticks - Part 1

Hey all!

I've been sharing some of these photos for the last few weeks and I've no idea why it's taken me so long to share the full post.

The Make Up Revolution Renaissance lipsticks came out a little while ago and are allegedly dupes for the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks. There's a full range of 20 different lip colours in the Renaissance range compared with 12 of the CT Matte Revolution lipsticks, 11 in the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. range and 17 in the Hot Lips range. I'd love to buy all of them (addicted to buying sets!) but at £24 per lipstick this isn't in my budget....ever!

So I obviously looked into the Renaissance range:

At £4 per lipstick I couldn't help myself. I bought all the nudes I could see as well as some reds, coral and pinks. Today I'm going to talk through most of the nudes, I've got some pictures of each lipstick, a swatch and a selfie with it on so it's a photo heavy post!

Firstly the outer packaging is really simple but also really pretty. This is one I won't lose at the bottom of my handbag seeing as it is allllllllllllll rose gold metallic! I think it looks really good, and its actually quite heavy so it feels expensive. A lot of people have actually commented that they thought they were from other more expensive brands so this goes to show how good they are.

The lipsticks are supposed to be high colour payoff with a smudge free finish. Without further rambling let's look at the four lipsticks in this post: Renew, Greatest, Fortify and Prime.

Renew:

Renew is a lovely wearable nude lipstick with a warm pink tone to it. The colour payoff is really good, the formula is creamy and it feels comfortable to wear.

This is an everyday lipstick and would flatter most people, it does come out more pink than the other nudes.

Greatest:

Greatest is another very wearable nude, this one is a cooler toned with a hint of taupe. Again colour pay off is good, feels comfortable to wear and doesn't drag on application.

This one is probably the colour most people would want to buy, it's a nude that is likely to be flattering on almost everyone.

Fortify:

Fortify is a coral through and through. It's gorgeous and I know I'll get some good wear out of this over the summer. It has a slight shimmer in it but it isn't glittery, I think this one is slightly sheer because it doesn't have a solid opacity with the colour. This makes it more flattering, I love the liquid lipsticks but some are so painted they can look odd sometimes. This seems to blend in a bit more - generally like me!

Prime:

Prime is the last nude for today's post, this is a browner toned nude. It's what I would consider a Kim Kardashian nude lipstick, it's the same colour as all of her selfies on instagram. In fact I just did a quick google on 'Kim Kardashian nude lipstick' and many of the images match this shade.

I wondered if this shade would suit me or not so I'm glad I picked it up, I also like this but can definitely see a difference between the three nudes in this post so can easily justify them all!

This is exactly why I chose to pick up the MUR lipsticks and not even attempt to buy the more expensive Charlotte Tilbury or YSL ones - I'd love the originals but £24+ on a lipstick is too much for me at this time and I've no shame in admitting it!

Especially when these lipsticks are all cruelty free, you can buy them with a clear conscience for both your purse and your ethics!

I mean look at those swatches above, that was one swipe only!

I'll be back with another post soon for the remaining four lipsticks, and possibly another in future with some new purchases I may make......*evil grin*

Have you tried these lipsticks? What are your thoughts on dupes? Have you tried the Charlotte Tilbury or YSL lipsticks for comparison?
