Avon Ultra Colour Lipstick in Oxford Wine

Hey All

It's been a while since I've done a lipstick post. Lipsticks are the one thing I can never stop buying (who am I kidding there, it's all things make up!!) I'm always on the hunt for more lipsticks and when I went home a few weeks ago for a wedding I forgot to take lipsticks with me so raided my Mum's box of extra Avon products. This wasn't the shade I was looking for for the wedding but as soon as I saw it I had to have it.

Oxford wine is one of the satin finish lipsticks, these lipsticks state that the pigment reactivates when lips are pursed together. To be honest I've only just read this so I can't comment on if that's true. The lipstick is very well pigmented and glides onto the lips. As it's a satin finish it's very comfortable to wear.

The packaging isn't anything exciting to shout about but it does the job and isn't gaudy! The shape of the bullet works well for applying the colour without the need for a lip brush. I do also love that the lipstick have Avon indented in it.

DSCF2820

I'm a big fan of dark colours on the lips and this is a very me colour. It does remind me slightly of Rimmel Dark night waterl-oops (review here). It's a rich wine berry colour and really suits pale skin tones. If you're brave enough to wear them it looks great. Colours like this also work great as a stain if the colour is a bit off putting it can be blended into the lips for a more toned down version.

I would say it's slightly more purple and less red than the photos show. It was one of those lipsticks that the colour wouldn't photograph correctly for.

You can purchase is here for £7.50 but usually Avon have some offers! I'm always a fan of avon lip products!

Would this colour be something you'd go for? I have a great nude and orange to share with you soon!

Rimmel Apocolips Lip Velvet Matte Burning Lava

Hey All

Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was pretty awesome. Friday night was spent with Wagamamas and The Theory of Everything (i was not prepared for that film to make me cry as much as it did) it was a great film though. On Saturday it was a sorting out type day and a quick pop into town where i finally grabbed some Chelsea style boots. I found a bargain in Fat face reduced from £80 to £25. How could I leave them there. I finally got some excursions planning done for Iceland, I leave two weeks tomorrow. I'm so excited to go now. Yesterday started off way earlier than I'd like for a trip down to the welsh coastline to walk along the cliffs. It was so windy at points but a lush walk and felt good to be out walking.

Today's post is on a product that became instantly loved by bloggers and until Christmas eve I didn't own any of them. As soon a I saw apocolips I loved them. The strong colours, amazing pigmentation, lasting stain and glossy lips really seemed like the perfect lip product and after trying L's I was even more convinced even so I told myself I had enough lipsticks (said no girl ever!!).

On Christmas eve I realised I hadn't taken a red lipstick back to my parents house it seemed like the perfect opportunity to pick them up. Plus they were on 3 for 2. Picking colours took a while but after seeing the matte version I opted for these as I had found the original ones transfer a lot when glossy especially onto teeth.

Burning lava is your classic pillar box red. I wouldn't say it has any blue tones too it but it doesn't make the teeth look yellow because of this.

As with the original apocolips it has the doe foot applicator with the dip in it so it picks up enough product. The shape of it also helps to get a good line around the lips and has a good enough point to define the cupids bow.The matte colours apply to the lips so smoothly. They glide on and don't drag and feel dry on the lips as some matte textures can and don't flake off the lips. I do also find the texture easy to work with to get a well outlined lip. The only problem I have is the colour can sometimes bleed a little so before applying I usually just apply a little bit of an invisible lip liner. The pigmentation is as you would expect from this range. I love the bold colours.

I prefer that the matte colours don't transfer as much as the glossy colours but have kept all the good features that everyone liked with the original apocolips. The colour will initially transfer to a glass or something while it sets but not as badly as the glossy version. It leaves a great even stain to the lips but I do find myself reapplying as the first time it fades I find it gives the ring around the lips. If I then reapply it'll fade and stain the lips all over. I love wearing this to work if I'm going out after work especially as I know by then I have a fuss free perfect red lip.

Have you tried the matte version of the Apocolips?

Colour Trend Lip Stix Foxy Fuchsia

Hey All

Happy Monday! I finally dragged my ass back to the gym after only running and kickboxing for the past two months. My first pump class was a struggle but it was great to be back in the gym!

A few months back I couldn't resist some new lipsticks from Avon. I've had the Colour Trend Lip Stix before so when I saw need shades I had to order. I've shared Reddy to Go before on the blog which is an amazing red you can see here.

20141002_075218

20141002_075224

One of the shades I picked up was Foxy Fuchsia! The packaging is the same as before in a twist up pencil style. I do love that the makes it easy to apply. It's a smallish tip meaning you can get good definition in your cupids bow.

20141002_075249

20141002_075306

Colour trend is a brand aimed more at teens and a younger market so the packaging suits that. I love the lip products. They are £4.50 each or a bargain 2 for £4. I love that Avon usually have offers.

20141002_075450

20141002_075453

This didn't disappoint with pigmentation, it also easily applies and doesn't drag. It goes on easily and application with the stick type pencil makes it really easy to apply. It leaves a slightly glossy finish to the lips and doesn't dry out.

20141002_080409

Foxy fuchsia is a soft pink colour. I think it's true to colour to the photo above but can look different in different lights. It's a warm pink and seems to still flatter my winter skin. When I first bought it I thought it was more of a summer colour but I am loving it with pale skin and blue hair!

20141002_080430

There are an impressive ten shades in the colour. I only have 3 but I can see more being ordered. They are a great one to throw in the handbag to reapply as they don't bleed. Now to choose which shades to order next!

L'oreal Glam Shine Stain Splash Caresse Eve

Hey All

I've been trying to resist buying new make up as I have a ridiculous stash! I may possibly have too much (I know crazy!!). I couldn't resist this when I saw it in boots in their reduced section. I have no idea why it was in there as it's still sold but oh well I grabbed a bargain. I've had a few like this lately!

Untitled

The Glam Shine Stain Splash have a glossy finish but add some staining colour to the lips to prolong the colour. They are water based so totally non sticky.

Untitled

I love the heart shaped applicator. The dip in the middle means enough product is on it and the point allows precision on the cupids bow. The gold packaging looks simple and classy like you'd expect from L'oreal.

Untitled

Eve wouldn't have been the colour I choose had all of them been reduced but I love the warm pink with a slight lilac tinge to it. It adds colour without being OTT.

Untitled

Please ignore my awful spots in these photos!! I've left it off my top lip so you can see the colour difference. It leaves a slight lilac tint.

Untitled

The colour is buildable for a brighter finish. I do like to layer it on personally. I love that it's not sticky.

Untitled

Untitled

I'm glad this colour was in the sale. I'm a fan of these now. I may even prefer them to my long time love Maybelline 10 hour tint gloss! I love a shiny lip especially staining non sticky ones. It comes in at £7.99

Have you tried these? Are you a fan of a lilac lip?

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick - Catfight

Evening All

Hope you've had a great bank holiday weekend. A few weeks back we shared our thoughts on the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in the shade Native (review here). When we went to an event for the Electric Palette this was another of the items I decided I had to purchase.

Untitled

Untitled

I loved the formula of the lipsticks but Native isn't a colour I wear much anymore. I very much a brights on the lips girl. I find nude shades don't suit me very much any more. I won't go into the packaging too much but I do love the gunmetal colour and embossing on it.

Untitled

Untitled

I went for the shade Catfight, after seeing it swatched on Nina's hand there was noway I wasn't having it. It's a shade my totally ridiculous necessary lipstick collection is lacking. Most of the red colours I own are blue toned. I love the warm pinky tone of the shade with enough red to make it not too pink! (I'm great at describing colours!)

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

One swipe of this lipstick leaves the most amazing pigmentation on the lips! It's got a subtle sheen to it and just glides onto the lips. Another bonus is it makes my teeth look white. I would say I could do with a lip brush to apply it. Something about the shape of the bullet makes a bright colour hard to apply tidy! It may be me. The lipstick does look different colours in different lights. The first two photos on the lips are from my camera normally and the last one is from the camera front facing. I would say the swatch is most true to colour.

These lipsticks last amazingly well and for a bright colour fade pretty well. There is a slight ring around the lips but nothing as bad as some. They aren't drying either which is always a plus.

They retail for £15 which is reasonable for high end lipsticks! As I have previously said I wouldn't have looked to Urban Decay for lipstick before but I love the formula and would put them on par with MAC!

Have you tried Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks?

Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss in Beso

Evening all!

Sorry for the late post. The weekend and today have just rushed by. I've literally just got home after the gym. I definitely have the fitness bug at the moment so I'm trying to push myself as much as possible while it's still here.

Hope you all had great weekends!

A few weeks ago L and I went to a showcase for Urban Decay and we were lucky to have these in our goodie bags. Over the last year I've been loving a glossier lip and have been trying to find lip glosses I like. Lately I've been wearing my hair up more so I've been wearing more and more lip glosses so I couldn't wait to try these.

Untitled

I was instantly drawn to the packaging. How gorgeous is it. I love that it matches the Naked 2 palette and how sleek it looks. The colour at the bottom makes it easy to see what colour it is if you have more than one. It's also stayed scratch few even when it's thrown about in my bag.

Untitled

When we were swatching away I was instantly drawn to Beso. It's such a gorgeous soft plummy colour and very much a 'me' shade. When I found out that Beso meant kiss in Spanish I loved it even more.

Untitled

The Urban Decay Naked lip glosses are nourishing on the lips and contain vitamin E, Avocado Oil and Shea butter to keep lips in great condition.

Untitled

It has a slightly longer applicator so it makes it really easy to apply.

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

I love that the lip gloss isn't sticky, as nothing puts me off more than when my lips stick together. With the Naked lip glosses they provide a soft wash of colour, high shine, moisture and make my lips look plumper.

Beso has been a firm favourite since I got it. I love it on it's own for a simple daily gloss look or pairing it over dark lipsticks for a bold lip!

I also got liar. I've not worn this one as much as I'm loving Beso more!

Untitled

Untitled

Liar is a softer pink shade and nearer my natural lip colour.

I'm a big fan of the texture of the glosses and love how conditioned my lips feel. They are great for everyday wear or for wearing over lipsticks. I do wish the colours were slightly more pigmented as I am a fan of a bold lip.

Have you tried the Naked glosses?

Sainsbury's Boutique Lip Gloss My Lips Are Sealed*

Hi All

Hope if it was your first day back to work it wasn't too bad.

Lately I've been loving a glossy lip (only when my hair is up though). I'm also a fan of a dark lip so have been looking for a dark gloss with a great pigmentation.

When Sainsbury's launched there make up range I was really keen to try it but not living near to a sainsburys meant I hadn't gotten around to it. I've tried a few polishes from the george make up range so I was interested to see how another supermarket brand make up was.

Untitled

Untitled

I really like that the packaging has been kept simple across the line. You can't go wrong with classic black. It's also held up well in my handbag and doesn't look tatty. These photos were taken after it had been in my bag for about 2 months. It has the traditional doe foot applicator which picks up a good amount of product without overloading the lips and making it hard to work with.

Untitled

My lips are sealed is a gorgeous deep berry toned purple/red. The pigmentation immediately impressed me but I wasn't sure how it would transfer on the lips.

In natural light

Untitled

It gives a great colour on the lips and applies smoothly! It gives a great even coverage.
Something I hate is a sticky gloss. This feel soft and the lips and is really comfortable.

So far I'm impressed with the gloss. It comes in at a reasonable £6. I'll definitely be picking up the lipsticks when I'm in a larger Sainsbury's store.

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer in Kooky

When I dyed my hair purple a few weeks back I decided I needed some new lipsticks to match it as probably half of my lipsticks would no longer go with it. I picked up one of the new Rimmel Moisture Renew lipsticks which I'm absolutely loving (review here). I'd been eyeing up the Topshop velvet lips as it was the perfect purple but after spotting the MUA one for a lot cheaper I thought I'd give it a go.

The MUA luxe velvet lip lacquers are a liquid lipstick that dries super matte with full pigmentation that lasts. They are similar I imagine to the Lime Crime Velvetines. I'm still eyeing up red velvet to try.

Untitled

I personally love a matte lip. I think matte looks great with bold colour but to get a perfect matte lip is a challenge. I hate it when it feels tight or dry on the lips or when cracks.

Untitled

The first thing I love about these are the packaging. The frosted glass and simple and sleek packaging look much more high end than their £3 price tag. I also love that they are boxed! A waste of packaging yes but it always makes me feel like I'm getting something better.

Untitled

Kooky is a very true purple. It has a very impressive pigmentation and comes out true to colour on the lips. With these less really is more. I find it best to wipe some of the product of before applying and go for a thin layer. The coverage looks better, it's less messy and it lasts better.

Untitled

I find if I applied too much product it almost crumbled off my lips. I also wondered about applying a lip gloss over the top for if I wanted the great pigmentation but with a glossy finish. This didn't mix well. It just peeled off the velvet lip lacquer underneath and looked really messy.

I also find apply less feels more comfortable on the lips. When I apply it more thickly it makes my lips feel tight and almost more like I need to pout.

They do wear well with a strong pigmentation but wear time is dependant on whether you eat and drink as they do start to wear off from the inside and you are left with the outer parts of the lips being coloured.

Untitled

These are great for strong pigmentation and matte finish without leaving lips cakey and dry when applied right. Overall I like them and will probably pick up the other colours. Kooky really is a great colour and a purple like this isn't something I'd have thought of picking up before but it has surprised me how many compliments I've got especially from people I wouldn't have expected?

Have you tried these yet?

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick Dark Night Waterl-Oops

Hope you've all had a great weekend. I've spent a long weekend with the family so it's been lush and chilled. I popped to my local town with my mum on Friday to pick up a few bits. Since dying my hair lilac I've been wanting more purple toned lip products. I've got a colour in my head but struggled to find it on the high street. I've spent a lot time looking through the different stands but when I found this one I had to pick it up.

Dark Night Waterl-oops (random name!) is one of the reformulated their moisture renew range and bought out some new colours. Diva Red is one of my favourite reds so I was excited to try other colours in the range.

Untitled

I prefer the new packaging as the old one seems to look tatty in my make up storage now and the purple colour is peeling off which won't happen on this. It feels sturdy enough at the moment so no lids coming off in the handbag hopefully.

Untitled

Dark night waterl-oops is such a pigmented colour. Rimmel lipsticks I've tried are amazing for this. I love that one swipe gives such a strong colour.

Untitled

I love the colour of Dark night waterl-oops. In the swatch it shows it's more pink tones. The colour can be applied with more of a dabbing motion and smudged a little to get a gorgeous softer colour. It really reminds me of Mac Rebel which was another selling point for me as I've wanted that colour for ages.

Untitled

Here it is built up on the lips. Excuse my slightly wobbly line as I've been at my parents I didn't pack a lip brush. I think dark lip colours look much better applied with a brush. It gives such a gorgeous purple berry tone when applied directly from the bullet.

Untitled

When applied from the bullet it is gives a soft glossy finish and does feel moisturising on the lips and lasts really well. It is smooth to apply and doesn't drag.

Untitled

If smudged out or applied lightly I did find it to be a little drying on the lips but nothing a bit of lip balm before application wouldn't fix.

Have you tried the new moisture renew lipsticks? Would you brave a dark colour?
