Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Polish in Grapefruit

Hey there!

I've written a fair few posts about the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paints recently having picked up multiple 3 for 2 deals - they are just that good!

Grapefruit is the latest colour that I've bought, I'm sure there will be more but I haven't picked up any yet.

Grapefruit is a super girly pink polish that should be in every girls collection - its perfect and will give the effect on your skin of having a tan which I would imagine that most people would want.
As I've mentioned before I'm super pale and barely see the sun however much I would love a real tan - this helps make me feel that my skin isn't too reflective and dazzling!

So application wise, the colour applies opaque in two coats and although I still wish the brush would be a bit wider to help a smoother application it hasn't stopped me from indulging in many more bottles!

You can see the super shiny finish that I love below:

For £3.99 you really can't go wrong with these polishes anyway but the colour range is what makes it. There's pretty much every colour you could hope for - I'm trying not to add to my collection but if I'm honest and I was starting out buying a few colours now I would steer clear of the more expensive ranges as Barry M have got you covered from all angles.

What's your favourite colour from the Gelly Hi Shine range?

Do you have a favourite finish from Barry M?

Aveda Colour at Kamigata

Morning All

I've been experimenting lots with my hair lately so I thought I'd share with you. Especially for our South Wales followers as the salon I'm loving is a Cardiff one.

For ages I got my hair done in Guy Christian. I'm a believer in you get what you pay for and love a luxury salon as it feels like a feel treat. After telling myself I couldn't afford it I became a groupon gal and jumped from salon to salon. I convinced myself I was happy but after a few disasters when I saw Kamigata advertising on Facebook for colour models I jumped at the chance.

Kamigata is a salon in St David's 2 and whenever I've walked past I've wanted to try it. Anyone who knows me will know over the past 6 months I've experimented with my hair a lot but after a few disasters at the hairdressers (they died it pink but it didn't take to half my hair so looked fruit salad esque, when they 'fixed' it two weeks later with lilac again it didn't fully take!) after this I decided to do it myself. After the condition started to get bad in Jan I had a good 5 inches cut of my hair and it died brown to make it healthy.

As soon as the hair dye went on I wasn't happy. I didn't feel like my hair was me, I felt bland an unhappy with it and quickly ended up putting a blonde box dye on it.

The first transformation by Matthew!

Kamigata were asking for hair models to test out the new Aveda colours. Aveda were a brand that traditionally followed natural hair (you should check out Matthew's balayage skills. A natural ombre!) but due to the trends of bright colours have released some amazing pinks and blues which can be mixed to make other colours.

In daylight. I love the shade it came out.

After a chat with Matthew I felt in much more capable hands. He lifted my hair all over so it was an even base an applied the pink from the collection. We applied it wet at first so it had a toner effect and left my hair with a gorgeous rose pink effect (this is what I want for summer!) as we were playing around with colour we decided to go brighter! Here is the amazing effect.

Untitled
As it started to fade it turned a lush rose colour!

The thing that has impressed me the most with the Aveda colours is the gorgeous way they fade. No patchy fades and washed out to a soft rose pink then back to basically blonde.

The faded effect!

After this we decided to play more. Let's go three colours. We used the pink mix from before, the blue and mixed the blue with bleach to give a purple colour. I love how mixable the colours are to get results you like. You can get totally different shades of pinks, purples and blues.

eeek it looks scary!

The finished result.

I love how the green and blue poke through.

Unfortunately my hair has to be normal for the next 8 weeks. I'm totally converted to Matthew. I totally trust him to do whatever to my hair as I feel like he already knows me. It's been ages since I trusted someone so much with my hair! I can't wait to let him play again once my brother's wedding is over!

Untitled
Again it faded to lush icey tones!

Untitled
and back to rose pink! I couldn't be happier with how it fades!

And here we are now. I can't wait till next Thursday for Matthew to work his magic! We are thinking blonde/ash toned next!

Are you someone that experiments with hair? If you're South Wales based I can't recommend Matthew enough. He's done some beautiful work.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Salon Manicure 540 Frutti Petutie

Morning lovelies!

I hope you're not feeling too hungover today, I didn't go out last night so I'm feeling pretty fresh for once!
I'm feeling productive so I'm having a clear out of all my clothes and shoes. I used to eBay a lot of clothes but eventually it was so time consuming and so many restrictions were placed on my account that it's so not worth it anymore.
So instead I'm just donating it all to charity to clear out a load of crap from my room and items that I just don't want or need any more.

That aside I've been sporting some bright pinks on my nails recently due to the summer months and small amount of good weather that we've had.
Pink always makes me feel happier!

I picked up this Sally Hansen polish from America a little while ago, I've been using and meaning to post for a while but haven't got round to it.

This is a beautiful bright pink shade called Frutti Petutie, shade number 540.

The photos below shows 2 coats of the polish and its so bright and shiny I absolutely love it!

Untitled

Isn't it gorgeous?!
These photos were taken on my phone so they're not the best and I hadn't cleaned them up at this point but you can see how easy it is to apply.
It's really smooth and I really liked the brush that was in the bottle.
It's quite large which meant I could apply the polish with one smooth movement which I find is always better.

Untitled

From the few Sally Hansen polishes I've used, I found that they're great quality and don't chip as easily as other polishes.

Do you have any colour suggestions from the range? I've heard their glitter ranges are really good too!

NOTD: Essie's Watermelon

My Essie obsession grows more and more, mostly down to the massive array of colours that they have available and the great quality of all the polishes I have so far used from them.

My latest purchase was 'Watermelon', a beautiful bright pink and perfect for summer!

025

026

I love pinks, and have actually used many up over the past few years of my polish addiction.
My favourites are colours like this, although the pink is really bright, it's also wearable all year around including winter due to it's raspberry tones.

It applies opaque in 2 coats as you'd expect from Essie and the colour is so flawless, its beautiful!

I love how shiny it is with a top coat, and the nails stay like this for a few day before chipping.

What's your favourite pink? What's your favourite Essie?

Review: Mac's Viva Glam Nicki Minaj Lipstick

Before Christmas I was a little naughty and picked up a new Mac Lipstick.
In my mind, as it was the Nicki Minaj one it was for charity and therefore didn't count...obviously!

M was with me at the time and you can ask anyone, I went a little wild.
It was the same time i picked up the Naked Basics palette, Mac's MSF in soft and gentle and also 3 for 2 on premium beauty in Boots (Coralista, Dior foundation and Origins moisturiser) oops!

After I'd swatched it on my hand in the shop I knew I had to have it.
On top of that my Mac lipstick collection was missing one of the Viva Glam black and pink lipstick casings, so I just had to snap it up.

I love that they've kept the box exactly the same apart from 'Nicki Minaj' scrawled over it in pink!

Again, who can resist the pink and black combo??

Viva Glam Nicki is a bright pink satin lipstick, and the first satin one from Mac in my collection as well.

It's a gorgeous bright pink, but unfortunately really hard to photograph!

Here it is swatched on my hand:

And here are some photos of it on my lips:

It's a gorgeous colour, but for me and my peeling lips it's a little hard work!
I find that it's very drying because its a Satin which i haven't had that much of a problem with before.
However a few goes with Lush's bubblegum scrub and lashings of lip balm for a while before it seems to work fine and the result is worth it!

I love wearing this when I meet the girls for a drink and especially on a Saturday night!

What's your favourite Mac lipstick? Which other Viva Glams would you recommend??

Review: Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick Shade 20

As I posted my July Wishlist yesterday there wasn't a Lipstick Monday post, and this lipstick is one I couldn't wait to share. I own one other of the Kate Moss Collection (so far, as I really love these) in shade 03 which is a pretty browny nude. Shade 20 is a very very bright pink and not one for the faint hearted.

It comes in the sleek black packaging with the crown on top to identify it as Rimmel and Kate's signature which is pink on this one. (on my nude on it's red). It's flattering on my pale skin at the moment but also think it would go gorgeous with a tan. I pair it with my No7 lip liner in plum to help it last.

So here it is. Cue silly pout, a gorgeous vibrant super pigmented lip colour. I am so impressed with the lasting power of this lipstick. It's quite thick so in one sweep you have impressive colour that doesn't dry out the lips.

This is it after two hours and a visit to the dentist. Pretty impressive right??

As it fades more, this is after 3 hours my lip liner becomes visible and I tend to reply apply, but I have had it last upto four hours. It leaves a very slight stain on the lips which I don't mind.

Overall I adore this lipstick. I'm such a fan of the bright pink lip at the moment and it's making these horrible grey skies a little brighter. I think I need more of the Kate Moss lipsticks. I'm very impressed with the formula, pigmentation and lasting power. Plus they smell nice. Any suggestions on other shades to try??

This can be picked up from boots for £5.49 but are currently on offer for 2 for £7. Quick ladies suggest me two more shades. I need to go buy these.

Do you like the Kate Moss lipsticks as much as me? Would you wear such a bright pink?

Love M
