Hello there!
Posts have been a little thin on the ground recently so big apologies for not being able to keep up. We've both had so much on the last few weeks/months, if you don't follow us on social media you should as you can see what we have been getting up to more easily but we will hopefully catch up with things and get more time soon!
Today's review is of some hair styling products from the Awapuhi Wild Ginger range from Paul Mitchell.
If you're a long term reader you will know we are part of the Styling Society so these products were gifted to us, but after using them the last few weeks I wanted to share my thoughts on them. As always they are honest and not influenced by the fact these were given to me.
We have previously tried the shampoo and conditioner from the same Wild Ginger range from Awapuhi and although we liked the smell of them we weren't really impressed with the effects. They weren't awful but after using them together my hair felt dry, not conditioned at all and it keep sticking together being really difficult to detangle. I've certainly got many other favourites from Paul Mitchell so this was a surprising disappointment.
So when we received these hair styling products to be honest I didn't have much hope....this includes the Styling Treatment Oil and the Shine Spray.
The Styling Treatment Oil:
The Styling Treatment Oil:
The Styling Treatment Oil claims to be ultra light so as not to weigh your hair down, as well as quenching dry hair and smoothing frizz away to help keep your hair looking soft and shiny.
It contains Awapuhi extract as well as lightweight silicones to help it achieve it's job

It's also paraben free, gluten free, vegan and colour safe.
I applied two pumps of this to my hair, my hair is fairly fine but I have a lot of it. It's pretty sleek anyway but because its so long it has lots of flyaways thanks to the constant growth cycle!
I smooth it through my hair before drying and it smells amazing, I really really like the smell of these hair products and for me it's a rare thing. I've got a lot better than I used to be but I still can't deal with anything heavily perfumed or too strong and overpowering but these aren't at all.
The oil is absorbed by my hair and I can smell it on my hair after it has been dried, but there is not greasy residue at all which is something I can struggle with my hair being fine (and dark, dark hair always seems to look greasy easily!)
I've also used a small amount of this on flyaways when my hair is dry and it's worked a charm.
The Shine Spray:
The Shine Spray claims it will transform dull hair to that with a reflective shine, it contains awapuhi extract to balance moisture and intensify shine in a lightweight mist also whilst leaving hair soft and silky smooth.
I've been using this for all occasions the last few weeks, it's so easy to mist on and my hair smells great after using it too. It is a fine mist so comes out lighter than hairspray, but I do feel it is a bit oily. This means my hair condition feels great and it does look shiny, but I can overload my fine hair with it (so basically I can't put it on every day which is a damn shame)
It can be a lot easier for dark hair to look shiny but now that my hair has been lightened with a lot of coppery shades it's a bit more difficult but I've had a few compliments since using this spray.
I took both of these products with me on a recent weekend away and me and my friends loved them. They're super easy to use, have great results (doing exactly what they are supposed to do) and smell good too.
Although my experience with the shampoo and conditioner was pretty average, these styling products have made me change my mind a lot!

The shine is always hard to pick up in a selfie but you can see my hair is reflecting light without looking greasy or weighed down, and it looks in good condition.
The Styling Treatment Oil is available in 3 different sizes:
25ml - £8.25
100ml - £27.95
150ml - £35.95
The Shine Spray is 125ml and costs £20.95
I'd recommend giving these a try especially if you like lightweight products like me. I've been pleasantly surprised and I'm happy to embrace the styling products!
Have you tried the Awapuhi range before? Are you a fan of the Paul Mitchell products?
We love them, not just because we are sent some of their products but truly believe they have a fantastic hair care range and it's all cruelty free!
