Lacura Charcoal Mud to Foam Cleanser

Hi all!

As you all know we're huge skincare fans and even bigger bargain fans. So finding the limited edition skincare in Aldi when it comes around is pretty high on my list.

Charcoal is having a bit of a moment and I don't see it going anywhere any time soon. As soon as I saw the charcoal products on offer I couldn't resist but try them out, even though I haven't really been convinced about them so far...

Why is charcoal such a great skincare ingredient?

There are a few benefits including deep cleaning, purification (it apparently holds up to 200 times its own weight in impurities including pollution), exfoliation, helping to mop up oil and also fight blackheads. So it's pretty useful right?

This particular cleanser claims to remove oil and make up, clarify, mattify and minimise pores. In addition to this it improves skins texture and complexion, and contains glycolic and lactic acid to gently exfoliate the skin.

It also contains clay, coconut extract, bamboo extract and eucalyptus oil. So there's quite a list!

I've been using this the last few weeks on and off as a mask and a cleanser.

The product is in a heavy duty plastic pump which feels pretty good quality. I've used a few pumps for each application and the cleanser is a thick mud consistency. It's easy to apply to your skin and doesn't get everywhere, however you do need to do this fairly quickly!

The mud cleanser then begins to melt after a little while so although I try and leave this on my skin when I can to act as mask.

I have surprised myself by really liking this. When using it as a cleanser there are some bits in it that also act as an exfoliator so there is a bit of a mechanical scrub effect as well as the chemical exfoliant.

My skin feels clean but there's none of that 'squeaky clean' and tight feeling. It melts almost all make up apart from the really industrial mascaras and eyeliners (which I obviously use!)

I can't really comment on the glycolic and lactic acid effects as I'm an acid user and something like this doesn't give me any noticeable effects, but I did notice my skin had less oil than usual.

I basically think this is a bargain. The cleanser cost £3.99 I believe so was worth a purchase anyway but definitely now I know how good it is too!

I almost always pick up an Aldi / Lacura skincare bargain especially the limited edition products as they disappear so fast. I've learned from the Exfoliating Mud Mask that it's best to pick up these products and think afterwards, it was fantastic and I'm still living in hope that it will magically reappear in store again!

I cannot wait to try out the mask next and share the results with you!

Have you tried any other products from these ranges? Which has been your favourite so far? There was also some charcoal micellar water available if that's your thing!
