Morning all!
A spa day is always a welcome treat but after the last few weeks I was so excited to have been invited to Bryn Meadows Spa to try out their Summer Fruits and Berries Rasul offer.
This included the Rasul Mud Room Ceremony with a geranium and grapefruit scrub and a choice of mud, use of the poolside and leisure facilities for 3 hours with the usual robe, towel and slippers, followed by the Summer Berries afternoon tea with unlimited tea or coffee and a glass of Pimms.
To say I was excited was an understatement, I was looking forward to forgetting the world outside of the spa for a few hours and embracing the relaxation.
I have been to the spa once previously on a spa day with friends around 7 years ago, so I was looking forward to visiting again and having a relaxing day. As Mia was unavailable my cousin Bethan from BethxKate who is also a blogger came with me for her first spa day which was lush!
The pool and facilities are really beautiful, and after changing into our robes on arrival we went straight to the side of the pool to take half an hour to relax.
We had a quick catch up here and then made our way to the relaxation room where we were instructed to wait to be called for the treatment. I love sitting in these rooms, they always have soft lighting, soft music and smell of a great blend of essential oils.
When it was our turn we were called and taken to the Rasul treatment room. The room contains a rain shower for you to wash before the treatment, as well as disposable underwear and shower caps. Inside this is a separate tiled room where you apply the scrub and mud and the steam fills.
Inside the room is a slate with the geranium and grapefruit scrub, and your chosen mud. We chose white mud as it was unscented, the chocolate and vanilla were tempting but we decided to stick with an unscented option (there was also a yellow mud too).
The scrub smells fantastic, it was my favourite scent of the whole day! I loved it and would like to buy it in bucket loads. The oils felt so moisturising and the scrub did not feel harsh on my sensitive skin either.
After this we applied the mud. It was quite thick but did melt and become easier to work. You could apply this all over so I put it on my body and also my face. This bit gets very messy so I took a quick selfie and then began to relax in the treatment room.
Once the mud is applied you simply need to press a button and settle into the tiled seats. After a few minutes the steam begins to fill the room and it does get quite hot and steamy, it was just about bearable in there. This repeats for two cycles and lasts approximately 20 minutes (from my mid spa guesstimate!)
After this the monsoon shower comes on and you can rinse the mud away. The shower began by being quite cold which was a nice shock to the system, however it did get quite hot after this. I'd recommend being a little careful with this part just in case you aren't used to very hot showers, there is also the separate rain shower outside the tiled room you can use (which we did).
My skin felt very clean, hydrated and soft after the treatment which was exactly what was needed.
Once the treatment was complete we went back to the pool to fully enjoy the facilities.
We managed to get ourselves two loungers and moved between these and the various steam rooms, sauna and jacuzzis the pool had to offer. These were great, my only complaint was that it was busy with families so it was hard to get any space in them!
After an hour or so we left the poolside and got changed ready to indulge for a different kind of treat!

The Summer Berries afternoon tea was a complete show stopper.
The presentation was perfect and every little cake and treat was perfect.
The sandwiches included cucumber, tuna mayo, egg, ham, and cheese and pickle. I'm one of those people that has to eat savoury/sweet/savoury/sweet so I can fully appreciate all the cakes. All the sandwiches were made with the softest bread and the fillings were really tasty.
I started with the cherry bakewell tart which was amazing, I'm not normally a fan but these were particularly good. After this I tried the raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake which was on a sponge instead of a biscuit base. These two were a tie for favourites, and obviously a great start to the afternoon tea!
The Pimms then arrived which was a great addition, it is the epitome of summer drinking and isn't part of any standard afternoon tea which makes it stand out.
The red berry scones were also fantastic. They were light and fluffy but still large enough to feel like the icing on the cake - I don't like it when you get a small scone as part of an afternoon tea! They're a very important part and the clotted cream and jam made it one of the best scones I've ever had.
The raspberry mousse was something I wasn't so keen on, I'm not a particular fan of jelly type textures so this wasn't for me but tasted it and the raspberry was perfectly sweet and sharp at the same time.
Last but not least was the chocolate cupcake. I tried to cut this one up and the cake part was so soft and bouncy it almost didn't work! I was really impressed with the textures of all the cakes and the flavours were really really good.
If it's a testament to how relaxing and indulgent I found the day, I came home and fell asleep in the sun in the garden for a good hour at 4pm. I was happily full, suitably relaxed and had forgotten about the stresses of the previous week which is exactly what the day is for, don't you agree?
This experience is currently on offer for the duration of June and July and will cost £89 for two people. You can find out more information here
What do you think of mud treatments? Do you like summer afternoon teas? Which would be your favourite cake off the menu??
