Hi all!
It's been a little while since sharing a post with you, between the two of us we've been moving, attending weddings, working and prepping for the Christmas season so took an unintentional break from blogging. It has been lovely to spend time with family and friends and tuck into the expected stash of Christmas food, so I thought today was the perfect opportunity to share some of these photos with you.
Christmas Eve was mostly spent in the kitchen, I was on dessert duty so there wasn't much spare time amongst making 3 different desserts and generally helping with the food preparation (so much washing up!!) but we decided to make time for a walk in the afternoon for a break.
The weather wasn't great but a walk in Cardiff Bay around the barrage was perfect, the weather was cold and windy but the drizzle stopped for the duration of our walk.
On the way back we stopped off at Coffi Co, a place I haven't been to before. It's a really cool cafe made out of shipping containers and the decor was perfect for us, it's even dog friendly! We cosied up between the window and the fire so we could admire the views of the bay and other people who were being brave and walking at the same time as us.
Then came the big day!
My dog absolutely ADORES wrapping paper and is very talented at helping to rip away the paper without damaging the gift inside. He loves throwing the paper around so Christmas morning is so much fun - in fact the dog basically has the best day!!
I managed to find myself a new jumper to wear on Christmas Day, I've struggled to find jumpers previously that weren't super short on my but this one from Peacocks was perfect. It even has bells on which jingle when you walk!
I decided to curl my hair for the day, I'd have my hair like this all the time if I could spend the time curling it and it would actually stay curly all day!
I used my Too Faced Born This Way foundation with New CiD Cosmetics iPout lipstick, iGroom brow pencil and iGlow in Sirocco. They are all my favourite every day make up products! For eyes I used the Morphe Brushes Bronzed Mocha palette and NYX liner.
See below for the food! We put ours onto a table so we can help ourselves and fill our plates as many times as we like - like a buffet style but its all kept warm.
We stuck to classic red, green and gold table decorations and left space on the table for all the drinks!
We had some prosecco this year with some Pop a Ball bursting bubbles which was fun, they soak up some of the gas in the drink and slowly rise to the top and pop in your mouth releasing a flavour. We had mango and strawberry which was lush!
Here are my masterpieces:
I made Toblerone Cheesecake surrounded by Nigella's puddinis, and Gino D'Campo's Lemon and Limoncello mousse. They all seemed to go down well so that was good!
I was really lucky and was given some really lovely gifts. I knew about a few of them (like the red coat and grey cape/jumper I've mentioned on Twitter as I had to try them on) but had a few lush surprises. I received the Siren Shell from Spectrum Brushes which was very exciting, expect to see a lot of pictures of this in the coming weeks!
I also received a few Harry Potter goodies, some recipe books and cooking equipment, a speaker for my house so I can play off my phone and a kit to make my own prosecco - winner!
After this came the games! We played quite a few this year including pass the parcel whilst wearing oven gloves and other crazy Christmas clothing, quizzes and Christmas bingo.
By the end of it me and the dog were pretty tired! Look at him all snuggled up on a Santa cushion!
This morning we've been out for an early walk. The weather is miserable here so we got up early to get some steps in and managed 5k before it started to hail so we didn't stay out much longer. Our tradition is go to the beach on Boxing Day as the beaches in South Wales are beautiful all year round, but we wouldn't have made it there before the bad weather arrived.
Since then I've been writing this whilst watching the Christmas Bake Off special, fully planning in eating the entire cheeseboard for lunch.
So those are my photos so far, how was your Christmas? Do you have any traditions?
I might share more of what I had later but for now the dog, the food and the family time was the best this Christmas and exactly what I wanted!
