Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner Review - Tiramisu

Hey All

Today I wanted to share one of my favourite lip liners at the moment. Rimmel do really affordable lip liners that are great. They are only £2.99 each.

The 1000 kisses lip liner are a traditional pencil type which means it does require sharpening but my preferred type as it has more product than a twist up one.  I've tried and use lots from this range as they are super affordable, last really well and have a great range of colours.

Tiramisu is a great everyday colour and if I can find a lip liner to match my lipstick I tend to reach for this one. Above you can see it just outlining the lips and below you can see the colour when it's all filled in. It would be a great one for those Kylie Jenner lips but for me I can't get into the slight over lining of the lips it tends to make it look like a child has applied my make up!

Tiramisu is a warm nude lip colour. For a long time I never used lip liner except with a red but I use it with all lipsticks now and this or Rimmel Addiction are the colours I reach for the most. I love the finish liner gives to the lipstick as it gives it a much better edge and makes it last better.

Have you tried Rimmel Liners? I'll be putting this one on today as L and I are off to watch the Rugby. It'll be a tense match for us!

Lush Ladybird Bubble Bar

Good morning everyone!

I've been working my way through the wonderful products I picked up recently at the Lush Spring event which you can read about here.

My bath this week was with the Ladybird Bubble Bar - it's such a cutie!

2016-02-25 19.30.19

I haven't used many bubble bars before so this was a new experience for me, and also the smell was so intriguing.
As I've mentioned many times I'm quite sensitive to smells and sometimes they are overpowering, this one is not like that at all. How can you resist such a cute bubble bar with the bug eyes??

This one contains geranium and peppermint oil so is both relaxing and invigorating, it would be a great one to have in the morning if there was enough time!

2016-02-25 19.30.50

I crumbled this under running water and watching the bubble multiply, I actually only used half of this bar as I wanted to save it but next time the whole thing is going in!

Lorna from Lush Cardiff told us the best thing for these is to use a sieve, I have now bought one ready to use the other half and can't wait to see how much more bubbly it gets.

My bathroom (and me!) smelled amazing after this bath and I may have to purchase a few more of these lovely little bugs before they stop selling them. The only cost £3.95 each

Have you tried the Ladybird? Do you prefer bubble bars or bath bombs?

Beauty Rehab

Hello there!

If you haven't noticed by now we've been making a few changes to our blog, we've upgraded to our own domain name and also changed the layout and had a whole new shake up - we've got our Instagram back and we've finally added Pinterest so we will be having so many new things coming up for you and we're very excited!

To continue with the 'out with the old and in with the new' I've got another update to my Beauty Rehab series. My stash has seriously downsized from it's original mammoth size but there's still more things to work through, here's what I've finished this time:

Rimmel Kate Moss Mascara - i will always love Rimmel mascaras as for me, you just can't go wrong. Good products for good prices, this is another that I've had before and although I don't find there are too many differences between them all they are all great for me!
Lacura Day Care Moisturiser - since moving I've had to consider every purchase, including skincare. I tried out Aldi's as it had so many good reviews and its actually really good, including this moisturiser, thumbs up from me
Maybelline Big Eyes mascara - wasn't a fan of this one, the two brush thing always has me worried but as these were different sizes I thought it would be different but sadly it dried out super fast and wasn't very good
Origins Checks and Balances face wash - still a favourite but sadly out of my budget nowadays, this was one I was saving for trips away for my wash bag, still love it!

IMG_8106

Aussie products - as a blanket review Aussie products smell amazing and are always on offer, why would I buy anything else?!
Good Things Argan Oil Cleansing Oil - I also really like Good Things and this worked really well but I do prefer their normal face wash for getting rid of the days grime
Batiste - again another staple, cannot go wrong and no other dry shampoo has lived up to this
Elemis Apricot Toner - a product that many have raved over. I'm not really a toner kind of girl but this smelled fairly good to me and it was nice and cooling, if I could get into the habit of using I'd probably want to use this one

IMG_8107

More Aussie, Batiste and Good Things, all great brands!
Alberto Balsam Shampoo - think this is a Home Bargains special, so many lovely smells I always pick them up as they're a great price too
Lush Cupcake Face Mask - chocolatey and great to use, my skin loves anything that comes from a fridge too, I'd get this again when my skin needed it
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray - so good for nights out, it has lasted me a while but sadly had to run out at some point

IMG_8108

Original Source Shower Gel - I had forgotten about these until I saw them in a shop, the smell is still wonderful and zesty in the mornings so I've bought a stash to inspire me to get up and exercise before work..fingers crossed!
Origins Ginzing Face Scrub - One of the few Origins products I haven't been impressed with, just didn't see any benefits whatsoever so this was disappointing
JPG MaDame perfume - This is my smell, and I still love it almost 10 years after it first came out. I'm pretty sure it's being discontinued so if anyone sees it on offer let me know!! Or I will have to find a new one and that's going to be a horrible task as I'm sensitive to smells...eek!
Origins Eye Doctor Eye Cream - wonder stuff, sad to finish it knowing I can't afford to replace it!

IMG_8109

Global Beauty Care Vitamin C Day Cream - this felt wonderful on the skin and moisturised well but sadly kept bringing me out in spots so it wasn't for me
Lacura Serum and Eye Gel - both amazing and both repurchased, Aldi have done super well here and I can't stop telling everyone about how good they are, get these! Just don't forget to leave some there for me too!
Ojon Hair Mask - vile. There's no other word for it, who wants a hair mask that smells like decades old stale coffee and cigarettes with a bit of damp thrown in?? Made me want to be sick :(
Chantecaille Mascara - can't see me ever buying this as I believe it is outrageously expensive, this was from a sample bag from Space NK. It was a lovely mascara and so was the brush (I meant to keep it as a spare and give it a wash but must have been to eager to clean up...oops) but at somewhere between £40 and £60 I just have to pretend it doesn't exist
Lush Mask of Magnaminty - a favourite of mine and got me into Lush products, I permanently have a tub in my shower and use it as much as possible!

So that's my round up, I tried to keep it short and sweet but there were quite a few to get through.

What do you think of my empties? Have you tried them all? Were your thoughts the same as mine?

Let me know!

Ten Mill Lane Cocktails

Hey All

Last week L and I headed down to Jacobs Market to try out some of the new cocktails Ten Mill Lane are launching. They're bringing out a new menu full of tasty cocktails which will be on offer mid week.

Ten Mill Lane is based on Mill Lane in the centre of Cardiff and is a great cocktail bar. L and I will be heading there for her birthday at the end of the month. We love a good mid week cocktail session (as you may know if you've followed our blog from the beginning and we were sharing our cocktail hour series found here)

2016-03-01 19.08.43

The event was held in Jacobs Antique and Ten Mill Lane had gone all out decorating it to showcase there new menu. The inspiration for the new menu comes from artwork and each cocktail is related to the piece of art that inspired.

Of course we found mirrors to take selfies in!

2016-03-01 19.54.08-1

Onto the cocktails, as mentioned above they are all inspired by artwork which I love and the cocktails themselves are a work of art. I love the thought that has gone into the presentation of them all.

Self Portrait - Frida Kahlo

Tequila isn't a drink I'd pick and I don't tend to pick it even in cocktails but I was won over with this. The Tequila was a love of Frida Kahlo which is why it was picked as the base of this art inspired cocktail. The mix of it with mango add a sweetness and then citrus and peppercorn rebalance this out. Not once I'd pick of the menu without trying but it was delicious and one I'd order again.

A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande - George Seurat

L and I couldn't wait to try this. Straight away this is one we'd have chosen off the menu based on ingredients. Sweet vermouth, raspberry and wormwood vodka. The combination of these is delicious and we could imagine drinking these on a chilled out sunny Sunday!

2016-03-08 10.47.35 1

Bleeding Medals - Gilbert and George

We missed this one as it came round for tasting but our love of tea means this will be the first one we order off the menu when we go back. I love the presentation of this, not only a teacup but tea too. This inspiration came that tea is seen iconically as an English tradition so the blend of gin tea bitters and earthy liqueur are said to be reminiscent of a black tea with lemon juice and sugar to balance out the flavour and a splash of milk! I can't wait to try this!

2016-03-08 10.40.57 2

The Treachery of Image - Rene Magritte

The presentation of this cocktail is amazing. Inspired by the art work it's based on it gets delivered to the table being smoked and served in a glass pipe! As expected it's base is a oaky whiskey but balanced out with a sweet vermouth. Also adding cloves, cinnamon and vanilla for flavour and warmth. A hint of absinthe brings the warm feeling to recreate the pipe! This sounds like a winning combination to me. I'm a big whisky fan.

2016-03-08 10.33.42 2

Blue Dress - Leonid Afremov

This is one of my favourite presentations. The sugared glass is a great touch and the delicate flower on top. This is also tastes as good as it looks with a mix of gin, green tea and elderflower cordial this is an easy drinker!

2016-03-08 10.36.24 1

Red Poppies and Daisies - Vincent Van Gogh

Another great presentation, with cocktails I'm perfectly ok with not drinking out of a glass if it looks pretty and this certainly does. This contains rum (probably L's favourite liquor!) brandy and mango juice which helps to bring out the flavours of both liquors to produce a sweet cocktail to represent the flowers. A hint of absinthe represents the foliage of the art work.

2016-03-08 10.38.15 1

I Saw the Figure 5 in Gold Cocktail - Charles Demuth

This is a cocktail that's right up my street, whisky, orange liqueur, and maple syrup with honey and bitters. Simple but works well and gives great flavours!

2016-03-01 08.00.19 1
Campbell's Soup Can - Andy Warhol

This is one I'd never have picked to try. Of course served in a can it's a new take on a bloody mary. Even served with a dash of parma ham if you're not vegetarian and chilli candy floss. Like a bloody mary it contains tomato juice but included is a mango vodka to give it a new flavour twist. This isn't something I'd order again but I didn't dislike it!

2016-03-08 10.45.34 1

Summer - Alphonse Mucha

The last cocktail I've got to share but there are a few more. This was an unexpected winner for L and I. It combines wine and gin (that sounds dangerous straight away!!) with elderflower. This really works. The wine and elderflower give a sweetness to this gin cocktail but still keep it light!

So that's some of the new menu from Ten Mill Lane. L and I were totally won over by these new cocktails and can't wait to try the rest when we celebrate her birthday! It's great to try new cocktails that aren't a classic. If you'd seen our 101 things in 1001 days when we did those one of my things was to try 10 new cocktails. If only we were still in those 1001 days I've have covered them!

Are you a cocktail fan? Have you been to Ten Mill Lane?
