Review: Benefit Do The Bright Thing

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to win this kit on a twitter competition along with a few books. I love the benefit kits as it is an easy way to try a few different Benefit products. I love the colours on the packaging and the 70s feel to it. I also love that the Golden Gate bridge is in the background signifying where it all began in San Francisco.

As with the other kits benefit sell it comes in the case with the lid. I also love with this that once you've used up the products you can remove the tray and use them to store products. It would be perfect for eye liners.

Do the bright thing kit contains products to help brighten the complexion. It contains That Gal, High Beam, Dandelion, They're Real and Bad Gal Liner. All of these are products I've used and liked with the exception of the Bad Gal Liner. This would be a perfect holiday kit as for evenings it's great to look glowing and the liner is waterproof.

It contains tip and tricks on the the lid and a mirror. The tips and tricks mean these sets are also perfect for beginners.

Dandelion is still my favourite blush. I love that the set contains the perfect size brush for the blush. (review here) I also like that high beam is a decent size and larger than what you get in magazines.

This shows the products. High Beam really is a great high lighter and perfect for under the brow bone and on the cheeks. That gal is a light primer. Personally I prefer others to this. The liner is really soft and goes onto the eyes easily without dragging. It also comes out really black on the waterline. I could speak about Dandelion all day. I love this blush. It's perfect on my pale skin and I couldn't be without it. They're Real is a great mascara and I do like it, I do love how it doesn't stray from the lashes either.

I really want the bronze of champions kit as it's got lots of products in I want to try. Have you got any of the benefit kits?

Review: Lush Oatifix

I'm a big lush fan and love trying out new products. The lush fresh face masks are some of my favourite face masks. I love how they are made using fresh ingredients and are cool to apply to the face as they have to be kept in the fridge.

Untitled

I keep trying different face masks at the moment as my skin is playing up a bit. I seem to get really bad skin around my spots so decided I'd try a mask to add some moisture to my skin.

Oatifix is described as being good to cleanse, soften and moisturise dry, sensitive skin. I've been enjoying using this as it's not irritating my spots and isn't breaking me out. This mask smells amazing. It's full of bananas, vanilla and oats which make it smell amazing. It also contains oils to help reduce redness.

Untitled

It is quite a lumpy mask and can be a bit messy to apply. It does seem to melt onto the face and feels comfortable while it's on and doesn't make my skin feel tight. When I was it off the oats help to lightly exfoliate my skin. It leaves my face feeling so soft.

Untitled

In the pictures I've used the mask twice and there is still loads of product left. I think I should get about 8 masks out of this one which will be two a week for the month which makes the masks pretty good value.

This one was actually free for me as I took back 5 pots. As lush try to promote recycling if you take back 5 clean black pots you get a free face mask.

Have you tried lush face masks? Which one is your favourite? I really want to try the love lettuce one next.

Cardiff Benefit Event

At the beginning of the month we were lucky enough to be invited to an event held by the lovely benebabes from the Boots Cardiff counter for the launch of Rockateur. I already owned Rockateur as I went to one of the flash day sales for it but decided to go along with L still as I love to see all the tips and tricks you pick up.

Untitled

As we arrived we were greeted with cute cocktails with Rockateur labels and met the ladies. They were so welcoming. We all started off by saying our favourite benefit product. Definitely a hard decision to make as both L and I are huge Benefit fans and have tried lots of the products between us.

Untitled

After being introduced we were shown a make up look. It was really interesting to watch the model be made up step by step and see all the products being used.

Untitled

It was interesting to see Porefessional and Stay Flawless used together and I definitely want to try that out. I love using porefessional for a night out. The models skin looked flawless and glowing after her skin was perfected and it makes me want to play around with Hello Flawless to see if I can achieve those results. After testing out Stay don't Stray it's fair to say that has gone on both L and I's wishlist. It's such a thick primer and looks like a great product.

Untitled

On the eyes they used the Glamorous Nudes Kit. I already have the Sexiest nudes (review here) and now really want this kit too. The colours looked lovely applied and the creaseless creams were gorgeous shades.

Untitled

For the cheeks the MUA layered on the products to get a really long lasting defined cheek. It was interesting to see Fine-One-One layered under Rockateur. I'll definitely be trying that. You can read a review on Rockateur here. It is a gorgeous new addition to the box blush range.

On our way out we were given a little goody bag. I was excited to see generous sized samples of the moisturiser and eye cream and one of Hello Flawless. I'll be trying those out soon.

Thanks ladies for inviting us. We'll be popping along to the counter soon.

Real Techniques Splurge

Morning all!

I'm on day 2 of my conference and my brain is completely BUZZING with all of the info that I've been listening to, I feel like I need a nap already!

I picked these up recently in the usual Boots offer of buy one get one half price which is always a happy sight in my view!

I've been lusting after both of these sets for a while and the fact one set is limited edition just made me want it more!

024

020

The eyeshadow brush collection is designed really well and there's everything you could possibly need, plus I love that they're all colour coded to purple!

008

Its a brilliant starter set for newbies and also for people like myself who have a few brushes but always feel like there's never enough. Even though I've had eyeshadow brush sets before this one covers all bases and if you're anything like me will use them for additional uses as well...

009

The case is also a welcome addition as I seem to be travelling quite a lot recently and running out of make up bags to store everything!

They're particularly useful as they keep the brushes flat and so prevent damage to the bristles.

029

The limited edition set was very exciting to play with and I've been eyeing it up for a little while now.

026

The duo fibres are supposed to be great and I've heard promising things about this kit from many people.

028

I didn't want to get them out of the packaging particularly as they're so perfectly white and clean but that feeling didnt last very long!
I've been playing around with both kits and will be doing full reviews on the brushes on a separate occasion.
031

I was wondering which of these brushes were your favourite? Whilst I'm playing around and getting used to them I thought I'd post and see if anyone had any tips for the duo fibre brushes, washing them so they stay white as possible and any application tips!

Ill be watching the YouTube videos of course but I'd like to see your opinions on these brushes too.
