Phee's Make Up Shop Highlighters

Hey all!

This is another post that's been a long time coming. We're both huge fans of Phee's Make Up Shop and adore her products, including eyeshadows and highlighters.

I've written about some of her eyeshadows so if you'd like to read about that you can click here to see the post, today's will be about the highlighters, and trust me they are worth looking at!

Wish List: September 2016

Hello there!

I've been writing a wishlist for weeks now and for some reason just haven't got around to getting it posted...in this time it has obviously grown but at least the items on it have a bit of variety.

The last year of house owning has ruined most shopping trips, planned or otherwise so writing a wishlist has been quite therapeutic. If I still want it after 6 months I obviously really want it...right??

Take a look and see if they match your wishlist items too!

I keep seeing these beautiful gym leggings everywhere. As I'm tall I can struggle to find leggings that are long enough and also sit on my waist properly, but I'm still on the endless search for a long black pair with some sexy mesh panels in - just because I'm sweating doesn't mean I don't want to look good!
I've seen some from Active in Style, the top ones are from Zanna Van Dijk's range and cost £85, the second are the Inda leggings from Daquini and cost £110.

Travel:

Image from Lonely Planet website

Forever dreaming of a paradise island getaway my latest focus has been pinning pictures from the beautiful island of Bali. Those white sands, turquoise waterfalls and 'once in a lifetime' sunsets are on my dream list. Keeping all my fingers toes and everything else crossed that one day I can actually go on holiday!

Palettes:
I mean it was extremely difficult to choose one palette from Sleek owing to their absolute corker of a collection right now (rivalled by another fave - Make Up Revolution, see below) but this highlighter palette is just all of the Pinterest/blogger/makeup goals right now.Amazing casing, flattering colour choices and apparently awesome blend-ability.

All of this for £9.99?? Get me on the delivery list pronto!

Lipstick:
Image from UD website
Long have I lusted after the Urban Decay lipsticks but after their recent revamp and 120 shade uber collection I perve on them all the time.
I am still looking for the perfect red, this time a classic blue toned red. I either seem to repurchase orangey ones, or the super dark vampy ones but I always get it wrong!

F-Bomb looks the perfect shade, and is 100% on my wishlist

Browse them all by selecting this link, each comes in at a perfectly reasonable £15.

Chanel Chance:

Another dream - owning a Chanel perfume!

Chance is my favourite and I had another whiff of it recently, I still love it. At £68 for 50ml however I definitely need to save or wait for a rich man.

One day!

MakeUp Revolution:
Last but certainly not least is Make Up Revolution.

There are so many things I want....NEED to pick up from this brand and knowing they are affordable means I actually can. I'm waiting for some free time to go in store and browse myself as that's always the best part, but these rose gold brushes are high on the priority list

Five brushes for £34.95 sounds pretty reasonable to me and they are beautiful! So instagrammable!

What's on your wishlist at the moment??

Hopefully I can get some of these soon but it's always nice to dream!

New CiD Cosmetics i-Glow Compact Shimmer Powder

Hello there!

A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to attend a wonderful evening at St David's Hotel and Spa and come home with a goodie bag of lovely products from Paul Mitchell and New CiD.

We've been using them over the last few weeks and couldn't wait to share the amazing i-Glow Compact Shimmer Powder.

_DSC0041-3

The i-Glow Compact Shimmer Powder is another of New CiD Cosmetics hand baked powders which uses waxes to stick ingredients together. This helps to make the product glide over your skin smoothly creating a more radiant and youthful look - this all sounds pretty wonderful to me!

The other ingredients in the shimmer powder help to 'bounce' the light off your skin which is why the best way to use the product is by picking up a really large brush, swirling it over the powder and dusting it over your cheekbones, collar bones and just about anywhere you want with a bit of a glow!

i-Glow is available in three different colours; Icy Pink, Sirocco and Coral Crush.
We were given Sirocco which is a lovely gold colour, the shimmer is amazing but the particles are so small it gives an amazing glow.

I've been really impressed with the colour payoff but also how blendable the shimmer powder is, it's easy to blend with any base make up I put on and has been suitable to wear in both the day and night.

Here it is on:

i-glow

I really like the glowy look it gives, I've had so many people compliment me on it and ask me what it is as they want to buy it too!

You can purchase all of the iGlow products for £26.00 for 9g of product in the compact. The compact itself is also super sturdy with a decent mirror size, I'm overall really impressed with this and I definitely want to try out the Coral Crush and Ice Pop to see how the glow changes.

What do you think of New CiD baked products? Have you tried iGlow?

This was one of the products I couldn't wait to try out as I already own ice pop (well my mum did but she wasn't giving it the love it deserved so gave it to me!) which I love. The texture of these are amazing they are so smooth and give an amazing highlight to the skin. Ice pop just adds such a pretty pink flush to the cheeks.

Sirocco is more of a bronzey shade, these are so pigmented as you can see from the swatch below (apologies for the slightly dark photo, I was battling the bad weather spell when I took these!). They have a really soft blendable texture which makes them so easy to work with.

_DSC0048-5

Now I've got these two I really want the i-bronze as the colours in that one look amazing. These are baked products so they're going to last for ages. My ice pop is older than I should admit and doesn't look used still. Another great thing is they sell these in minis for £16, you get a lot of product in the original and I find I rarely use a blush up so it's nice to have the option to grab a smaller size one.

MAC White Frost Eyeshadow

Good morning!

I've been adding to my MAC palette for a little while now, to be honest I sometimes forget about it and other purchases take over so filling it with new eyeshadows hasn't been a priority. But using up some of my favourite shades in other palettes has meant I've needed to replace them so I've been searching high and low to find a replacement for Urban Decay's Venus.

I bought Brule (post here) but it didn't have the shimmer factor nor was it light enough on my porcelain skin to show up as a highlighter (seen top row, 2nd along) so I have now added White Frost to the mix, seen top row centre.

013

001

White Frost is described as a vivid white with an icy shimmer. It is definitely the whitest eye shadow I have ever bought and I am therefore hoping by default that it cannot be lighter than my own skin which seems to be very good at being so ghostly pale.

002

004

So I picked up the pan to fit straight into my palette and got to work. You can see in the photo below that it is definitely an icy shimmer finish.

005

007

These photos show a comparison between White Frost (left) and Venus (right). In terms of finish they match pretty well and the level of shimmer and coverage is the same, however the tone is slightly different with Venus being a bit more of a champagne gold.

It seems I am yet to find a complete match for Venus but this White Frost shadow cannot be discounted as of yet:

008

011

Applied to the lid it works well as a general base and then i apply it more heavily to the inner corner of the eye for a highlighter.

I like it because although it wasn't the softer shade I was looking for it doesn't seem to look too white and shocking either, which is great! For once my skin has been 'out-whited' if that can even be a term but it still doesn't look too weird. Win!

Have you tried many MAC eyeshadows? What would be your must haves?

I need to buy another insert so that I can have colours one side and nudes the other, there are so many shades I'd love to add and I definitely need some more matte shades!

MAC Brule Eyeshadow

Good morning!

I'm really excited to show you my latest Mac purchase, its been a while since I've picked anything up from Mac so it was a pretty random purchase when I bought the Brulé eye-shadow. I've been building up my palette extremely slowly; I think this year it's definitely going to be a challenge for me to buy a few more shades and build up a palette that I can take anywhere.

001

Brulé is described as a soft creamy beige, its another nudey colour that so many people rave over. I absolutely love the eye shadows in the urban decay naked basics palette but I've been using Venus - a shimmery white satin colour - a lot more than the other colours so I know I need a similar colour in my Mac palette too so that I have one in every palette!

002

004

You can see the colour with flash above and without flash below. To give Mac their credit this is a really smooth and blendable colour, I use it to cover my whole eyelid and create a good base before adding any further colours for definition. Their eyeshadows are a well respected area of their product range but they really are good and the colour range cannot be competed with.
However this isn't the colour that I thought it would be, it blends perfectly with my skin tone which is surprising as it's so light but just goes to show how pale I really am.

005

You can see Brulé in my palette below, it fills a gap of a matte light nude colour and I know it will be used a lot I'm just surprised it didn't turn out lighter than it did. It seems my skin tone is even lighter than I thought so I will really need a white ish colour to use as a highlight for the inner corners of my eyes! If anyone has any suggestions of a colour that fits this description please let me know, I have a Debenhams beauty card with £10 on it that is now burning a hole in my pocket!

023

So here is Brule applied evenly all over my eyelid:

Untitled

You can see it blends perfectly and creates an even base for any other eyeshadows to be applied on top.

The photo below shows All That Glitters and Sable applied to give my eye a bit more contour; this was for work so I've gone for a lighter look than usual!

I really like this colour and think it fills in a gap in my palette perfectly. It wasn't the colour that i thought it would be on my skin but actually that's ok, it will definitely get used for most eye make up looks. It just means I will need to keep searching for another....

What do you think of Brule? Do you have a MAC palette like this? Do you have any suggestions for the next addition to my palette - preferably a light shimmery off white?

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion

Hi there!

Finally we have passed the middle of the week and can look forward to the weekend!

A few short weeks ago I picked up my first ever Hourglass product. Unless you have an endless amount of cash rolling in it is ridiculously hard to keep up with your own wishlists and i am definitely struggling! I've heard a lot about Hourglass over the last year or so and have been interested in their blushes, bronzers and highlighters as they seem to be most coveted but I don't have a lot of money at the moment so I've been choosing wisely.

As soon as I saw Dim Infusion, one of their Ambient Lighting Blushes I couldn't leave it behind.

025

033

The box is quite chic, it's a welcome break from monochrome even though I'm a die hard fan of the old black and white.
It's also great to know the 'free from' list, interesting that they include gluten on it don't you think? Seems to be such a fad nowadays.

035

036

037

Dim Infusion is a coral blush with gold shimmer through it. It looks like a perfectly marbled masterpiece and on first glance I knew it was mine. Initially I didn't even know what it was, a blush? A highlighter? A complexion enhancer type thing? Who knew, it was mine as soon as i saw it, those colours are me all over!

038

With flash you can see the shimmer particles a lot more easily, though even then they show up as more of a glow:

042

It was at this point that i admittedly became a little disappointed. When I started to use the product itself it fell short of what I thought it would do to my face and my complexion. I had visions of it creating a super blendable glow effect that would undoubtedly look the most natural I had ever looked courtesy of make up.

Sadly this wasn't the case. The shimmery particles don't seem to play any part at all and so in fact, the blush is just a blush. Don't get me wrong it is a beautiful colour and I have been getting a lot of wear out of it as it suits my skin tone and is perfect for everyday use, but it does seem to have lost its magic for me.

You can see for yourself:

029

031

It's a really gorgeous colour and for £28 for 4.2g it is slightly more expensive than a Nars blush but near enough on par. It is something that I have been wearing most days and will continue to I just thought it was going to be a bit more special that it was and that is what disappoints me the most.

Part of me wonders if i had bought the Ambient Blush Palette for £56 I may have been more satisfied with three colours and they come in at 3.3g each. I've heard so much about the Ambient Lighting products and the primer from Hourglass that I just imagined it to be better and it has put me off buying products from them in future without being able to try them beforehand which can be difficult in Wales as we don't have a Space NK anywhere near.

Have you tried the Ambient Lighting Blushes before? What did you think? Have you tried anything else from Hourglass?

I haven't given up on them yet but it may be a while before I buy from them again.
