NOTD Nails Inc Basil Street and Nail Art

I'd seen this design over at polishyoupretty.com a while a go and have been meaning to try it for a while now. It's very simple to do. I used my dotting tool I picked up from eBay for around the 1.50 mark. Worth getting as it makes nail art so much easier.

I firstly started of with a few coats of Nails Inc Basil Street. After seeing the photos this nude looks a bit to yellow toned for my skin tone so I'd use my No 7 So Simple next time. All you need is a nice nude shade then 3 different colours that are quite different. I stuck to shades similar to what they used at polish you pretty as I loved the effect but you could use any colour you fancy.

This nail art is really simple. Started with George in Boom. Start by dotting spots over the tips of the nail quite close together and graduating down. You can use different size spots. I then applied Piccadilly Circus in the same way. I found Nails Inc polished a little hard to use with my dotting tool. They dried a little quick and were a bit too thick. The last colour I chose was OPI You Don't Know Jacques! From my best of the best set.

This is a really simple but looks effective nail art in my opinion. From the site I originally saw it on they had done all the nails and it looks great but I didn't think the rest of my nails were long enough to pull it off. They keep breaking at the moment :(

What do you think of this? Is it a design you'd tried? I think it would look great in yellow, red and orange for the summer.

Lipstick Mondays 17 Beehive

Another pretty nude shade to show you today. 17 Mirror Shine On Lipstick in Beehive. Firstly I love this lipstick. It's so moisturising it's more like a balm texture. I also love the bright blue packaging it really stands out in my bag.

For some reason it's gone funny in the tube, has any one else found this with this make? The lipstick is still very usable and doesn't effect it. I think it's probably as it's such a moisturising formula.

It's a sheer nude glossy shade on lip. Due to the how light this is on the lip the lasting power isn't great. The colour it comes out on the lip and how nice it feels means I don't mind reapplying it lots.

Although it's glossy on the lips it's not at all sticky. I will definitely repurchase this soon as I'm running low and can't wait to try more shades from this range. I think this is an impressive nude shade, I find it hard to find nice high street nude shades but this colour definitely rivals MAC for colour.

They are a reasonable £4.59. Looking online their are only 3 shades available now but I know there are lots more in store. Does anyone know if they are possibly discontinuing this range? If so I need to stock up. Do you have any from this range?

Giveaway

We've decided it's time we host our first giveaway. We are both excited to do one as we've not done a giveaway before. We went to town last week to pick up some goodies for it. After L was so impressed with her Giles Deacon lip gloss (review found here) we decided to pick up bits from this range as it would be probably be something new for the winner to try!

A cute blusher which is very similar to the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick, what's not to love! We went with a pallete that we thought could be used for day and night and the purple shade would be great for a summer smokey evening eye look.

L was also very impressed with the lashes we picked up. She couldn't resist getting herself a set and I must agree they looked amazing on her.

We both loved the coral shade nail varnish (the nail varnishes for some reason aren't named like the rest of the products) And the gorgeous Stop Lipgloss

Review: Giles Deacon for New Look Lipgloss

When I heard Giles Deacon was doing a make up range for New Look, I was more than a little underwhelmed.

I love New Look, it's perfect for buying every day clothes, party dresses and it's most definitely shoes and accessories galore!

But I wasn't sure that the make up range would be of any good quality so I didn't give it a second thought if I'm honest.

However, after seeing a few pictures I decided to go and take a look in store and I was more than impressed!

The prices are ridiculously cheap, the packaging simple but still pretty and the products themselves a beautiful range of colours that anyone would be happy with.

I picked up this lipgloss, called Stop! and also the Bobbi Brown esque blusher palette in the brown colours.
(Review coming up shortly!)

I couldn't believe how pigmented the colour of this lipgloss was, so much colour!

It has the normal sponge applicator to apply the gloss which isn't rocket science but I felt it did the job pretty well. You could always apply it using one of your own brushes instead!

On the left below I've shown a picture of the colour as it comes off the sponge, and on the right it's more blended in (sort of!) to show you how much the colour shows up even if you don't use much.

I think this colour would suit most people, it's a very pinky red that you can load up or just dab a bit on however you please.

And also....it was only £2.99! Amazing!

Have you bought any of the Giles Deacon for New Look products?
Is there any in particular you wanted to try out?

(If you come back tomorrow there will be lovely surprise for you if you do.... ;)
