Review: Giles Deacon for New Look Lipgloss

When I heard Giles Deacon was doing a make up range for New Look, I was more than a little underwhelmed.

I love New Look, it's perfect for buying every day clothes, party dresses and it's most definitely shoes and accessories galore!

But I wasn't sure that the make up range would be of any good quality so I didn't give it a second thought if I'm honest.

However, after seeing a few pictures I decided to go and take a look in store and I was more than impressed!

The prices are ridiculously cheap, the packaging simple but still pretty and the products themselves a beautiful range of colours that anyone would be happy with.

I picked up this lipgloss, called Stop! and also the Bobbi Brown esque blusher palette in the brown colours.
(Review coming up shortly!)

I couldn't believe how pigmented the colour of this lipgloss was, so much colour!

It has the normal sponge applicator to apply the gloss which isn't rocket science but I felt it did the job pretty well. You could always apply it using one of your own brushes instead!

On the left below I've shown a picture of the colour as it comes off the sponge, and on the right it's more blended in (sort of!) to show you how much the colour shows up even if you don't use much.

I think this colour would suit most people, it's a very pinky red that you can load up or just dab a bit on however you please.

And also....it was only £2.99! Amazing!

Have you bought any of the Giles Deacon for New Look products?
Is there any in particular you wanted to try out?

(If you come back tomorrow there will be lovely surprise for you if you do.... ;)

Review: Soap and Glory's Sugar Crush

This is my absolute current favourite!

I recently finished off Soap and Glory's Pulp Friction and whilst I loved the way it lathered up, I was ready to try something else as it lasted such a long time. (that's not a negative point for it, just wanted a change!)

Luckily my mum was buying presents and happened to need something else to make it up to a 3 for 2 deal, voila! I managed to sneak this into her basket which also meant it was free for me, hurrah!

Soap and Glory's Sugar Crush is an absolutely divine scrub made from brown sugar, lime, almond oil and macadamia grains.
Basically, it smells sugary, sweet and warming with the sugar and limes in. It makes you feel like your in an exotic country the moment you smell it!

I liked the convenience of Pulp Friction's tube, however I do like the alternative of scooping out of a tub and being able to grab handfuls of it as you please.

I could literally have scooped this out and eaten it, it smells that good!

The grains in the scrub are quite large, and whilst this can have a negative effect in that they feel quite rough, with this product the thick sugary solution the grains are in made sure it didn't feel rough at all.

It gave my skin a lovely clean feeling and definitely got rid of all the dead skin etc that a good scrub does, without leaving an oily residue that some do.

I personally hate that as you have to wash off all of the excess and it's a bit annoying!

Have you tried Sugar Crush?

I hadn't actually heard of it until I saw it in the shop, once I'd smelt it i knew it had to be mine!

Have you tried any other body scrubs from Soap and Glory or other ranges that you would recommend?

Scrubs like this are perfect for the summer and getting ready for the beach!

NOTD: Barry M 304 Mint Green

We all know pastels come around every year for Spring and Summer but I love how they look.

Today's NOTD is not a new colour but a good one for the warmer weather that isn't too girlie.

I am talking about Barry M's 304 Mint Green colour:

These photos are a little messier than I thought they were so apologies for that, I was in a rush at the time!

I do love pastels for spring and summer, but the pinks and yellows can sometimes, for me anyway, be a little too girly so I love that the green provides a perfect alternative.

As for this particular nail polish, the consistency wasn't too great if I'm honest.
I love Barry M nail polishes but this one was a bit streaky, and the quality doesn't always seem consistent between colours.

I used 3 coats for these photos which is more than the average 2 in other colours from Barry M, but as I don't own many pastel colours I'm not sure if this is the norm?

I like the results anyway, perfect for beaches, barbecues, nights out, shopping trips and anything else you can think of!

I can't wait for the warmer weather when you can sit on a beach!

What do you think of pastels? Do you prefer pinks and warmer colours or something like green or blue?

OPI Cajun Shrimp Nail Dupe

When I received the best of the best OPI collection for Christmas I was excited to try them all out as it's such a well loved brand that I hadn't tried before.

Cajun shrimp stood out to me as a perfect coral orange for the summer. When I first applied it those I was a little disappointed. Where I regularly bake I find I get food colouring stuck under my nails and need opaque polishes or my nail line is visible and this is a look I like. Also needing 4 coats is disappointing for small bottles as you use the polish up quickly.

I also find OPI nail varnish chip easily on me. Do any of you find this too? They also are quite expensive in the UK. So when I saw Crave Me in boots I excitedly picked it up.

As you can see they are pretty similar in colour. Cajun shrimp is a little more pink in shade. The No7 polish can also be picked up for a bargain £2 if you wait till the £5 off vouchers are on.

Cajun Shrimp is on my thumb and Crave Me on my ring finger. Pretty close match. Crave me has a nicer formula, it's very pigmented and opaque in two coats, I find it lasts better than OPI too.

Perfect shade for summer don't you think?! Both L and I have this, after seeing it on her nails I had to have it. L has done a NOTD on Crave Me last week if you'd like to see her thoughts on it. Do you like these shades?
