Fun Ways to Stay Motivated on your Fitness Journey

So it's coming to the end of February and if you're anything like me you are probably wondering what on earth you can do to keep your motivation going!

You've made it through January and got passed the part where a lot of people normally give up. So what can you do to make sure you don't lose your focus??

Recently I've been looking into new ways to keep myself on track, so I've been taking part in lots of new activities in Cardiff to make sure I don't get too comfortable on the sofa too often.

Tramshred

In January there were a series of classes at the Tramshed in Cardiff and we were lucky enough to be invited to one of them. Not only do you take part in a super fun and upbeat class with fellow likeminded people on a Sunday morning, you can also follow it up with a prosecco brunch! Who wouldn't want to do that?!

It was a great class (we took part in the Smash Hits class) and there were also ones for 90s classics. They were so successful that they've put them on for February too and I expect they will be back for another month too. They're a lot of fun and we burned around 4-500 calories for the class.

Yoga Workshop

Tramshed Studio Yoga Workshop

On another weekend I visited the Tramshed Studio for the first time, to take part in my first ever yoga class. This was taught by the lovely Lisa from Yogalust Co and she took us through a full workshop all about yoga, working from the feet upwards and taking us through the names of standard poses that we would hear in future if we were to attend any classes.

I've always wanted to try yoga for a number of reasons so this was the perfect opportunity for me to give it a try and although it wasn't easy I really enjoyed it.

Learning to be stronger and more flexible is something I'd love to do, so now I've tried out this workshop I know I need to commit to a yoga class more often and build everything up. I will be looking into attending classes more regularly!

Exploring

Newton Beach Walk

If you're really stuck for something different to do....go and explore!!

I've found there's so many beaches and parks in South Wales, as well as the Brecon Beacons housing many mountains for exploring and building up some cardio that there's no excuse for not getting some trainers or hiking boots on and getting out for a walk.

They're free and information is easily accessible on where to go, how long they will take and what you can expect. You can try out Offa's Dyke, a walk that takes you from the South to the North of Wales that you can do in sections or over two weeks. Or you can wander around the local parks and lakes for a quick 1 hour walk.

The images above are from Newton Beach when we walked there over the Christmas break. The sunshine made the beach almost look like summer!

Below the images are of a walk completed recently up Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons, it was quite cold and there was still snow at the top but the views all around are beautiful!

I did at some point feel like I was at the top of the Wall from Game of Thrones!

There are so many places and activities you can take part in your local area, it is well worth seeing if there are any similar one off classes or workshops near you. I've seen some classes in future that include salsa dancing which would be fun!
