Lush Humpty Dumpty

Hey All

Easter is just around the corner and I can't wait for the long weekend. A few weeks ago L and I went to see what new products lush were releasing for spring (you can see some of them here) and neither of us could resist picking up humpty dumpty after we'd seen him.

Humpty Dumpty is a large bath bomb and is more expensive than normal but it can do upto three baths. You can find it to buy here. It's a great scent with orange and bergamont so it smells fresh and easy,

I mentioned he's bigger and more expensive which is because he can do 3 baths. If you give it a whack on the side of the bath it splits into three bits (albeit mine didn't split too well!) inside it reveals a cracked egg. What a cute touch. I love the thought that goes into lush products!

Here's how it splits up if you crack it properly!

In the bath it fizzes away to make a beautiful blue bath water that smells lovely and fresh. I love the colour pattern it makes on the bath. Below you can see the egg fizzing away, It is a smaller bath bomb, but it does seem to fizz a bit slower so you'd still get a good bath out of it.

Have you purchased anything from the lush spring collection?

Burger and Lobster Tank Talks

Hey all!

Have you heard of Tank Talks??

It's a new idea from Burger and Lobster where you can attend their restaurant on a Wednesday in March and hear all about the restaurant, try all of the food and matching cocktail items on the menu and generally have a fun time!

We went last week for the first session and were very excited. We both love food as we have mentioned many times and had never been to Burger and Lobster yet so it was a great experience to go to this event first.

We were shown to our tables and there were 10 of us in total so it was a nice manageable number.
Amelia the restaurant manager was so lovely and easy to listen to, she told us a bit of background about the restaurant itself, where it came from and how many there are now.
I wrongly assumed Burger and Lobster came from the US, it actually came from London which now has 9 restaurants, plus a further three in the UK (Cardiff, Manchester and Bath). They also have a few others around the world in the US, Sweden, Kuwait and Dubai so it is still quite exclusive really.

The tables were decorated so half of us were Team Lobster, and the other half Team Burger. Our table was covered with fishing nets and it was a really nice touch with the aim of the evening to decide which team you were on.

The menu is quite simple - there actually isn't one! Instead your server will explain your options to you - basically you choose burger or lobster! The lobster can either be as a lobster roll or server freshly cooked in the shell, either steamed or grilled.
All options are served with salad and chips - pretty easy to decide what you want!

As part of Tank Talks however you get to sample everything from the menu with respective cocktails all for the standard price of £20 - the burger or the two lobster options also cost this for a normal visit to the restaurant. First up, was lobster!

We had a talk from the Sous Chef who told us lots of interesting facts about lobsters, including that you can age them like trees by counting the rings on their antennae, and also that they urinate from their mouths! Crazy!
Burger and Lobster go through around 11 tonnes of lobster a week which is a crazy amount to think about. They have a few tanks on each site with an absolutely huge one in London, I think they said it was the biggest that exists!

The Lobster roll was the first item we tried, this is cold lobster in a japanese mayo with lemon juice in a brioche roll made using their own recipe. I can't tell you how absolutely amazing these were and i really did savour every mouthful!

The lobster roll was also paired with the Ab Fab cocktail, shown above on the right (pink drink) which was light, floral and refreshing. It contains peach vodka, rose wine, lemon verbena and red currant. Unfortunately i was driving but that didn't stop me trying out the range of non-alcoholic drinks and the Hawaiian Cooler (left in the above photo) was really tasty. It was based on pineapple juice which i haven't had in ages so it was a great change.

Next came the real lobster and the respective bibs!!

What a feast!!

Half of the lobster was grilled and the other half steamed. The grilled side tastes a bit meatier and chargrilled, the steamed side is more tender and also fishier so it depends what kind of meal you are looking for.

We got stuck in with the tools and cracking the shells, we've probably never got so messy with food but when you're given bibs it's kind of expected!

This was served with a Jalisco's Rose cocktails, which contained tequila, vermouth, apple cordial and soda.

Next up it was burger time!

The meat for these burgers comes from Hereford and Aberdeen beef from Nebraska. They are corn fed to produce the marble effect. To make the burger they only use 3 cuts of the beef and add absolutely nothing at all, not even seasoning and they advise that you order it medium rare for the best taste.
The bun used in the burger uses the same recipe as for the brioche buns for the lobster rolls, this is then piled high with salad, bacon, cheese and their own recipe burger sauce.

Take a look at this beauty:

The burger is huge! It's amazing though, the whole meal was really tasty and I'd find it hard to choose which one to have if i went again.
In fact we have already been back and shared the burger and a lobster roll!

This came with a cocktail called '8 Steps to the West' containing whiskey, pear, elderflower, rosemary and ginger ale. We think this was collectively our favourite cocktail, I ordered it on our second trip just so I could savour it after having to drive on our original trip!

DSC_2782

As if we weren't already stuffed, out came dessert!

As we were Team Lobster by this point we were given the cheesecake with a 'sand' topping, there was also a 'soil' topping for those who were Team Burger (basically digestives or oreos!) which was a lovely touch for the event.
They were very tasty but after all of the food we struggled to finish them!

The last drink we tried was the Hot Bergamot Toddy which contained Bergamot orange, honey, ginger, bitters and hot water. It was lovely for those of us who currently have a cold and I'd fully recommend it.

The whole experience was absolutely wonderful and although we were invited for reviewing purposes and didn't pay for the food we were so impressed we actually went back to watch the Wales v England match that same weekend. It was a tense day for our friendship but even though England won our friendship survived....!

Have you been to Burger and Lobster? Have you booked in for Tank Talks?

We would fully recommend it for any foodie!

Let us know if you try it, and if you're Team Burger or Team Lobster!

Wishlist

Hey there!

I've not written a wishlist for a ridiculous amount of time, which is quite funny as I can't afford to buy anything but still want everything.

So without further rambling, here is what's on my wishlist right now:

Lorna Jane - Everything!

Image from Active in Style

I've seen and heard a lot about Lorna Jane, one day I will own such beauties!

Above are the Storm Core Ankle Biter Tights, and they are wonderful. You can view them on the Active in Style site by clicking here for £63.

I've also got my eye on this bra:
Image from Active in Style
It's the Lumineer Sports Bra and comes in at £46.

I absolutely love the design with the subtle print and the cross back, its gorgeous and functional and I need it in my fitness bag. It might make me run faster right? Right.

Zoeva - Rose Golden Vol. 2 Brush Sets

Who doesn't love rose gold? And who doesn't love brush sets?

Which is why it is so hard to ignore these beauties, I picked two sets as I couldn't choose one!

Both of these sets cost £65 each which for brushes of this variety and quality is quite good. And they're pretty! I think i could always do with more brushes generally but the eye brush set is probably the number one priority for me, I never seem to have enough and there's such a good variety there I want to test them all out.

It's unlikely I will ever buy these for myself so I think it's safe to say they will be staying on my wishlist for a while, but if some money does come my way some time soon I will be running to Beauty Bay to snap them up.
You can view the collection on Beauty Bay by clicking here.

Rebecca Stella Squad Palette

Rebecca Stella hasn't really popped up on my radar before, but with my new found love for YouTube I saw the Squad Palette on 'Meg Says' and wow isn't it the dream??

I love the matte colours and can see they would be used a lot for day wear. There's even one with a slight shimmer for a highlight and the best part?

This brand is totally cruelty free! M has been super conscious of this now she has her bunnies and it is always better to buy from a brand that doesn't test on animals so we are actively trying to learn more.

When brands like this produce lovely palettes like this why would you get anything that had been tested on an animal?!

You can browse Rebecca Stella on her website here, the Squad Palette is £32 (They also have a contour palette.....eeek!)

Nike - LunarGlide 7 MP - £115

There's not really much to be said about these absolutely gorgeous and super wonderful running trainers.....apart from, drool with me.

Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette Review

Hey all

As soon as the Kat Von D make up hit the scene I knew I had to have some. I'm still desperate for the liquid liner, liquid lipsticks and the foundations as they're meant to be great for pale skin tones. My first product was the Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette. I initially wanted the contour palette but opted for this instead.

_DSC0009

I was drawn to the eye palette as it was a totally matte palette (something I didn't previously own) and the top three shades were large pans and I thought I could use them as contour and highlight shades and get a multi use from these palettes. I love that it comes with some ideas for looks to create to so is great for beginners or to help grow make up confidence.

Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette Review

Apologies for the used palette photos. I initially took them brand new but wasn't happy with them when I uploaded them. The palette contains 12 different shades set up in three sections. The large shade is meant to be the base, the 1st shade underneath the contour, the second shade define and the third shade highlight. All the colours are really pigmented and blend out easily. I don't tend to follow what the shades are for and mix it up. I love that it comes with warm and cool tone so will suit most skin tones!!

24484995143_34a629c108_z

Here I used the large shade called Lazerous to add some definition in the creases Laetus and Lucious on the lid. I love using these shades for a natural eye look. Lazerous also works as a great brow shade.

Kat-von-d-shade-and-light-eye-contour-palette-review-beauty

Here I went heavier with the colours and blended lots of the brown shades through the outer v to deepen it. The colours all blend really well together. I've also used Lazerous to contour here and Laetus to set under the eyes. I love this as a contour shade. It looks so natural against my pale skin as it's more of a taupe shade. I'm wearing the lip liner featured on the blog on Monday Rimmel 1000 kisses in Tiramisu. With Revlon Mauve it Over (which I've now learnt is discontinued, sad times !!)

I love this palette and can't wait to try more of the Kat Von D range, the foundation is next on my list. I'm tempted to purchase a sample of it to try out. It's not the easiest make up range to get but Sephora do now ship to the UK. I personally use a facebook group to order my American make up from.

How do you get American products? Have you tried Kat Von D products?
