YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in 12

Happy weekend!

I'm looking forward to catching up with some friends this weekend and getting out for some walks, hopefully the weather will get better too....

Today's review is about the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks, I don't think I've ever tried anything from YSL really but definitely not their lipsticks. This was given to me as a birthday gift and I absolutely adore it!

The colour is called '12' which is a little boring in my opinion, a name is always much more fun and more relatable, but that's just me.
Edit: I've looked it up to see the cost and actually it does have a name! Corail Incandescant, which is pretty accurate I would say.

The packaging is pretty special I think, who doesn't love some expensive looking gold casing and I like the fact you can see the lipstick colour without opening it up too. It's also a lot easier to find in your handbag than a MAC or Illamasqua one because the gold reflects off everything!

The Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks contain 6 essential oils, anti-oxidants, emollients and hyaluronic acid to ensure serious hydration and conditioning whilst wearing the chosen lip colour.

I've found this is so easy to apply and the hydration is amazing, there was no flaking whatsoever. The colour payoff is pretty good and it fades to a sort of stain after a few hours too, I personally just keep reapplying! Reapplication isn't a problem when the lipstick is this hydrating and easy to use, as long as you use a lip pencil to start it should be fine all day.

I really love the colour, it's enough to show that you have a lipstick on but not too much that it's a statement. I've been wearing it literally everywhere from family lunches, festivals, hen weekends and evenings at the pub.

For £26 it is a luxury item, I would never have spent this much on a lipstick but having said that I also think it is worth every penny!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for some money heading my way so I can buy a few more, the colour range is great and I'd love to have a nude, a red and a pink to add to the collection.

What do you think of the Rouge Volupte lipsticks? What's your favourite colour?

Korres Lip Butters in Jasmine and Mango

Tonight's post is going up much later than I planned. I've ended up spending the night in my kitchen cooking meals for the week. I much prefer cooking big meals all in one night so I can then reach into my fridge/freezer and have a healthy proper lunch or dinner at my convenience.

Anyway on to today's post. I recently picked up a product I had heard so much about from beauty gurus. I wonder if it could be that good. Every time a product gets hyped up I'm put off buying it as I think it won't live up to my expectations.

Finally I caved and treated myself to two of the Korres lip butters. I got the shades Mango and Jasmine. For a while I wondered if they were worth it and wondered what category they fitted into.

They remind me of a more moisturising version of a Sleek Pout Polish (reviewed here). The Korres lip butters have a thick glossy texture which apply to the lips smoothly.

They aren't my favourite type of pot as I'm not a fan of something I have to stick my finger in but I do like the simplicity of the design and the fact the lids are colour coded to the product.

Here is the colour of my natural lips so you can see the difference in colour.

Untitled

Jasmine is a soft nude. With I nude lip I tend to favour a glossy lip. I find otherwise they look a bit weird on me. The only non glossy nude lip I seem to be wearing lately is this Revlon one. Jasmine has quite a sweet smell to it and on me makes my lips appear slighty paler and glossier. I tend to wear this if I am wearing a heavy eye look for every day.

Mango is an orange red and I picked it up as I thought it would be a great introduction to orange for me as it's a sheerer softer way to wear it. I love orange on other people but haven't found my shade yet. The scent on this is slightly sickly falsely sweet mango which is a bit annoying but when on the lips it doesn't make a difference. I love the colour of this on. It just makes my lips look like a glossier orange version of what they are naturally.

I really love the texture and the feel of the Korres lip butters. I do feel the scents are slightly artificial for my taste but that being said you don't notice when they are on. As they are more of a glossy lipbalm they don't have great staying power but I love that they are non sticky and don't dry out the lips.

I really want to try the wild roses one as it looks a gorgeous colour. Have you tried the Korres Lip butters? They vary in price I've found but are only £6.40 at the moment on Look Fantastic which also offers free delivery (must resist ordering the rose one as I'm skint!!) Have any of you tried the stick versions? Are they are pigmented?

The Summer Lipstick - Virgin Vie Lady Marmalade

I am loving lipsticks lately, they were such a neglected item in my make up bag before, putting colour on my lips was never something I thought of but now I can’t buy enough. I keep getting them with my No.7 vouchers but find they’re colour range a little disappointing. I’m always on the hunt for a beautiful pink nude shade and it seems Mac wins in this. Mac seems to have lipstick shades normal drug store ranges can’t seem to compete with. I’m planning on getting my first Mac lipstick at the end of the month. I’m currently eyeing up crème cup. What’s your favourite shade.

As summer is coming I decided I’d try to find an orange shade that suited me. I love really dark colours but they are being put away for winter and I need to buy lots of new ones for spring/summer (any excuse to shop really)
