NOTD: Slytherin

Happy weekend everyone!

I've had a few quieter weekends recently which has been great for catching up with myself. There's always so many things to do, not only the usual cleaning and tidying but getting to the gym, meeting friends I haven't seen in ages and the all important Christmas shopping!

I've surprisingly managed to get mine done in record time this year as ideas came to me so easily, that combined with the fact I only have my parents and brother to buy for plus a little secret santa gift for a friend.

With that said, I've been going through my nail varnish collection and taking advantage of the darker and more wintery colours that I have. Here's a design I came up with one Saturday night:

002

For this I applied 2 coats of China Glaze Smoke and Ashes from the Hunger Games collection and then painted the tips only with 2 coats of Sinful Color's Nail Junkie

007

005

Both of these colours are ones that I adore but never wear very often. My immediate thought once finishing them is that they're a very Slytherin' kind of nail polish look! do you agree? I couldn't help but call this post Slytherin after realising this!

The dark green/black base along with shimmering green and turquoise glitter go really well together and look a bit magical; maybe that's what made me think of it!

003

008

What do you think of my nail idea? Do you like combining glitter polishes and effects like this for a new look?

I think I need to shop my stash more often, I'm forever buying new polishes and i need to control myself and get some will power. I have a whole suitcase full of them but no doubt I'll be buying shed loads in the sales still....and that's with them not even on sale price!

Which of the Sinful Colors polishes are your favourite? Do you buy from limited edition ranges such as the Hunger Games ones from China Glaze?

Sinful Colors

Soooooooooooo. Sinful Colors.

I'm sure you've all heard the rage by now, these amazing nail polishes have hit the stands in Boots for an absolutely purse friendly, eye-catching and heart-attack-inducing £1.99.

I did initially think oh god what cheap nasty things do we have here. I was so wrong and I promise you I've hit myself many a time since for letting it cross my mind!

Untitled
As I hadn't used this brand before I picked up 2 glitters as I didn't think you could go wrong with glitters even from a brand with a lower price.

030

The beautiful sparkly blue/green colour is called Nail Junkie so obviously I was drawn to that one, and the pink was a winner in my books, sugary sweetness and sparkle in a bottle, aptly named Pinky Glitter.

Here they are in different lights:

Lush!

So let's get on with seeing how they look on the nails.

Nail Junkie is up first and you can see in the first picture with one coat that it's a bit thin and definitely needs a few layers. You could layer this over another colour if you wanted a more subtle effect though, that's what this is all about!

The second coat (2nd picture) is a little better but I personally prefer the look of the super glittery triple coat:

Just look at these in natural light!! You cannot get any more mermaid than that. So basically what we have here is a £1.99 polish from a brand causing a huge storm in Boots that effortlessly gives you 2013's hottest look. Love. At. First. Sight.

075

I want to SWIM in that bottle.
It reminds me of beach holidays and cool lakes with summer magic. I do get carried away don't I?

Pinky Glitter is the second bottle I purchased.

A pink glitter is a staple in any girls nail wardrobe and I'm a firm fan, probed by owning about 10, different shades and styles obviously!

This polish was much the same when concerning the triple coats, and definitely looks better in the sun.

093

This one in particular looks awesome over another colour, the photo below shows it over Essie's Lovie Dovie and you can see it pretty much glows!

I'm sure you can tell by the comments above that I think the range is brilliant and well worth the money. £1.99 is such a good price for these polishes and it means you can afford to try out colours that you would otherwise leave on the shelf. Particularly fashiony shades or glitter polishes you won't use as much of.

What do you think of Sinful Colors? Have you seen their mahussive range of colours?
Which colours would you recommend if you've picked some up?

Let me know and I'll be there like a flash!

Boots Panic Buying

Hello!

You may have seen some tweets the past week or so celebrating the fact that I have a new job...hurrah!

I am so excited to start my new job in a toxicology lab and have been busy buying a new wardrobe now that I can wear my own clothes and not a standard uniform.

I have also, as you can imagine, been putting my discount to good use and buying my final few items with it as after I've left Boots i will be rid of temptation and therefore will not be buying anything for 6 months....right??!

I say few....this is what I've racked up so far.

001

I'm embarrassed, horrified and somewhat proud.

I've picked up essentials like moisturiser and bobbles, and also brushes and eye make up remover with the No7 vouchers. Some summery nail polishes did not escape my notice particularly the £1.99 Sinful Colours ones, and obviously some must have make up products.

Obviously I haven't used much of it yet but I wanted to let you know about a few deals I've picked up and what's looking good!

Revlon have a 3 for 2 deal on at the moment which means I've picked up my favourite primer, some skin highlights, a new concealer and my first ever BB cream:

018

So looking forward to trying out the new Revlon items!

Next up I picked up some items from Rimmel:

013

They have a deal on at the moment when you spend £10 you get a free Scandaleyes mascara which I've used before and really liked.
I think you can always use powder and I've been looking to get myself a matt bronzer for a while so picked these three up to compare them to more expensive powders and bronzers I already have.

Bourjois also have a similar deal on where if you spend £12 you get a free round blush pot.

I didn't plan on getting two of these deals but after picking up one I couldn't help myself!

014

For the first set I picked up a Volumizer mascara that I'd heard good things about, and of course the blogger fave nail varnish removal pot which has been raved about for glitter polishes.

I then picked up the Healthy Mix Serum foundation after a recommendation for my dry skin and also the infamous Bronzing Powder.

016

These blushes both look absolutely gorgeous.
I picked up one that has a slight shimmer and reminds me of my favourite Coralista, and also a slightly darker matt blush.

087

I've heard that Bourjois are bringing out some new Cream Blushes which is massively exciting!

I love cream blushes and if these powder ones are anything to go by the cream ones will be super easy to blend and have fantastic colouring.
They've already launched in Selfridges and online (3rd of May) and you can get them from Boots on the 15th of May.

There will be four colours and by the looks of things 01 and 02 look stunning for paler people like me and M!

Priced at £7.99 a pop I will certainly be looking at the Cream Blushes when they get into my Boots store :)

What do you think of my panic buying so far? Over the top or justified??
What would you buy if you had a discount card for Boots?

Will you be checking out the new Bourjois Cream Blushes??
