2017 Goals

Hello everyone!

I've been meaning to write this for a little while....all month if I'm honest but January has been a bit crazy for many reasons. Work has been the busiest it has ever been in my whole 2.5 years there and I've been out to Barcelona for a week, and my dad has been into hospital for many stressful and invasive tests that luckily were clear. That combined with the general start-of-the-year fitness and diet routines and I've spent my month being the 'exhausted pigeon' flapping around aimlessly not knowing where to go next or indeed what I was doing 2 minutes ago.

2015

Morning lovelies!

I've been thinking quite a lot about what I'd like to change and complete in the next year. Previously I've done the whole lose weight/drink more water/save money kind of thing and to be honest, it doesn't really work for me. It also makes me feel like I've kind of pressurised myself into completing tasks within a time frame and that can be difficult.

This year instead of resolutions I'm going to make a list of things I'd like to improve and change about my life and my outlook on life. This year I'm all about happiness and positivity, and being as stress free as possible. This isn't a 'new year, new me' post, it's a 'new year, improved me' plan for the next 12 months.

1) Debts. I've been trying to pay off my debts for a long time now, each time I progress something else seems to happen to my car that sets me back or I have something else to pay for, Christmas being a big example! I'm a maximum of 2 more months from paying off all my debt and having all of my money just for me. My credit card has been paid off and its just a few more hundred that I owe my parents. I've NO IDEA what I'm going to do with my money when I don't have any debt, but that's so much fun I just can't even think about it!

2) Keep going. With everything. This is mostly in relation to my food and fitness habits; I eat super healthy anyway and go to the gym/exercise up to 5 times a week. I'd love to keep this up as adding more just isn't feasible, but I'd like to run more and build my distance back up ready for Tough Mudder in August and I'd like to lift more and really strengthen my upper body. I know I can do it, and I know I can improve on my current fitness state but I need to work harder during my sessions and push through the pain.
This is also in relation to my career, I've finally got a job that I can barely keep up with, there's so much to learn and I'm really enjoying it. Sometimes it is overwhelming and I feel like I've got so much extra reading to do to catch up but I know that in the end I'll get there, I just need to continue what I'm already doing.

3) Diary. I had two diaries for Christmas, one I will be using for work as I get the impression that I will be doing a lot of travelling and juggling, in which case organisation is going to be key! As for the other diary....I couldn't decide at first what to do with it. I think though, it will be best used as a food and fitness diary. I don't plan to record every meal as it won't be feasible but at times when I feel I need to cut back I will log it for a week or two to see where I'm going wrong. I'd also like to keep a log of my progress in the gym and running; noting down my distances or weights each time i progress will give me an idea of where I can improve and when I feel like I've not done enough can reassure myself that I have progressed!
I also plan on filling it with quotes from Pinterest or Instagram as it will be worth it to look back when I need motivation.

4) Hobbies. I used to be really creative; I took art at GCSE and loved it but it was never something that i could continue on with after that. I've recently got back into a few things such as papercutting and I really want this to continue into 2015. I want to draw and paint more, I want to bake and get more creative with meals in the kitchen, and I want to read more. There is always more that I want to do but reading 1 book per month is something that could be achievable so I will be making a conscious effort to do this. I'd also love to make a scrapbook for my memories like friends' weddings and festivals. Creative time is definitely worth investing your time in, not only for something away from computer and phone screens but something that you can have to show for your hard work.
I think we could all do with a bit of a digital detox couldn't we?

5) Quality not Quantity. This is entirely shopping based; I need to stop getting caught up in hype. There's not a skin product nor a make up product that I currently don't own, before I purchase any more i need to continue to work my way through my ridiculous stash. I've got so much moisturiser it's a tad insane so no more buying until I've run out. As far as clothes are concerned I have really enjoyed my recent trips to vintage fairs and also buying higher end products. I'm fed up of buying clothes that don't last so from now on I will be avoiding Primark etc for work clothes as they just don't last for me. Fashion items are fine but I need good quality stuff that fits and is comfortable enough as well as looking the part for work. Besides I love the thought if there being a story behind an item of clothing don't you??

6) Happiness. Last but not least, the most important point of them all. This year needs to be a much happier year, I need to stress less and just go with life and see what happens. I'm not one to plan too much and I think this is the best way to be but I also worry about the future and what will happen so I just need to accept that things will work out how they are supposed to and I should just enjoy myself in the mean time.

It goes without saying that I would love to end the year with a house of my own, a set of rock hard abs and have travelled a number of places across the globe but that may just be a bit too unrealistic; or maybe it is attainable if I work hard enough?

Who knows! I'm looking forward to being given the opportunity to start another year again with a new mindset and just embrace it all.

As for the blog I will be changing the type of posts and the way I write them from now on. Previously beauty was number one in my life and dedicating this blog to that was the obvious choice; now I've got enough beauty products to last a lifetime and I spend far more of my time reading about new gym and fitness techniques than I do the latest hype products and this doesn't reflect at all.

Send me your book recommendations, send me posts on your hobbies and pastimes that don't involve more time spent on a computer screen, send me fitness ideas or running tips; I want them all as this year is going to be AWESOME.

2014 Resolutions

Good morning!

I'm sure you've all been thinking about it over the last few weeks, but it is time for some new resolutions now its the new year.

I've been having a think of some real and achievable resolutions that can actually be completed...which is sometimes a little difficult! It's too easy to eat crap, spend all my money and stay away from exercise, but hopefully this year will be different.

1) My biggest aim this year is to try and be happier. I've been working so hard the last few years trying to complete my Masters etc that a lot of things have been pushed to the side, including things that make me happier.
Over the next year I have a lot of events planned including Glastonbury and a lot of hen weekends/weddings, meeting old friends and lots of day trips.

Although I like keeping busy I also like time to myself so I'm going to try and get back into reading as I planned to read so much and never seem to have time. I also plan on getting rid of the things and people that don't make me happy....there are a few that I'm sure I can live without and need to distance myself from. Fingers crossed this will help!

2) My other big aim for the year is to get really fit. I already go to the gym 2/3/4 times a week whenever I can and although I enjoy it, over the winter months it has been hard work with minimal motivation and lots of traffic jams to stop me.
So far this year I have already been most days to either the gym, classes, running outside around the park or swimming. I'm hoping this will help me lose the few pounds I've put on over the winter and a few more that I'd planned on losing previously.

I've also signed up to a 10k run (I've never run this far EVER) and also at the end of the summer.....Tough Mudder. If any of you don't know what this is here is the link to the website, but basically it's a 10-12 mile course with 20 obstacles designed by Special Forces...eeek!
I've got a program worked out to get me fit and ready for that time which I plan on writing in a separate post. However any tips would be greatly appreciated!

3) Debt. Whilst I am slowly making my way through the money that I owe my parents, it is taking longer than I would like. I'm trying my hardest but it seems money really doesn't go very far at all nowadays and with 2 weddings and multiple hen weekends plus Glastonbury to pay for in the upcoming months I need to get my act together. Plus I'd like to move out soon and this will never happen with my debt!

First things first is a spending ban; the usual blogger thing after Christmas really but this time its for real!
I was doing well for MONTHS before Christmas working my way through my stash and avoiding buying anything new but as soon as Christmas came around there was a sudden surge in my buying and i completely lost it and I can't even tell you when!
I can 100% say that I am fully stocked up on anything I could need. The only things I will allow myself to buy beauty wise is face wipes, dry shampoo and things like bobbles etc which are a necessity to every day life and tend to run out faster (don't shout at me for face wipes, I remove the layer of grease from my face before properly cleansing-that's all!).

Aside from that there a few items of clothing that I will be needing and these include jeans (I have only 1 pair) leggings (same again), vest tops, and some additional gym wear as I cannot wash them fast enough!

These can wait for a little while but I plan on keeping this ban going until my birthday at the end of March so if i need them before then i will have to buy them.....but no more products!

4) A simple one - I plan on trying to say 'yes' instead of 'no'. It's time for some more fun, so let's say yes to more things right?

These are going to have to become my mottos!

What are your resolutions for 2014? Do you have anything different to mine?

I think they're pretty standard but fingers crossed I can complete them some what!

New Year's Resolutions

I know it's already the 4th of January but it has taken me a little while to think up some resolutions this year.

Last year's resolutions were to successfully go to the gym, lose weight, tone up and eat healthily, as well as pass uni and graduate.
I completed all of these which was a massive shock to me as I am massively partial to food and not the gym, however once I got into it I couldn't quite stop! The endorphins obviously got to me and I loved the feeling.

To top off my year the perfect thing would have been to get a job, but unfortunately that didn't happen (in my field anyway!).
I did get a Christmas job at Boots and I have been kept on permanently so I am very grateful for that and knowing that I will still have some money coming in and just have to keep my fingers crossed that something more relevant will come up soon.

With regards to this year I have a few aims I would like to share with you and certain tasks I would like to complete.

Firstly of course, I would like to successfully complete the 100 day spending ban that me and M have both begun on the 1st of January. You can read an update on that on Sunday to see how were getting on in our first week!

Secondly I would like to continue my healthy eating and exercising and hopefully manage to get some more regular hours in work making going to classes a little easier. I was going 4/5 times a week and I have been lucky the past 2 months if I went twice!
This was largely due to late shopping hours but now those are over I'm hoping I won't have any more excuses...

Thirdly I would like to complete more of my 101 Things in 1001 Days challenge which you can access using the page tabs on the right of the web page.
This includes reading more and completing project 365 which I have begun on my tumblr (let me know if you'd like to follow me or if you're completing the same thing!)

Lastly my biggest resolution for this year is to have fun!
Even though I've had some great nights out with some friends and went to America for 7 weeks, those nights were few and the purpose of my America trip was a university module which took up most of my time over there.

I have completed uni now and should have more free time, all I need is to pay off a few bills and debts from a year without work and then start saving up for the future.

I would love to do more cinema trips, more meals, more day trips (not necessarily shopping!) and an actual holiday would be luscious!
I have lots to look forward to in 2013 including 2 of my friends weddings and a few concerts planned as well as I would love to go to a festival and travel more.

Basically what I'm trying to say is.....
