The Body Shop Camomile Range - Cleansing Oil, Cleansing Butter and Make Up Remover

Hey all!

I've been slowly making my way through The Body Shop's range of skincare, and haven't really shared much of my thoughts on it yet. I recently made an order of cleansers because mine were running low, so I decided to pick up a few different types and get stuck in.

Nivea 3 in 1 Micellar Water

Happy Friday lovely readers!

I hope you've got some great things planned. I have work for the final time on a Saturday but only til 11am so I'm planning on getting some gym action and then having another quiet weekend to conserve my energy for Tough Mudder the weekend after!

Today I have a review for you on another micellar water. There are quite a few on the market now and it's about time seeing as before there was only offers from Bioderma and Etat Pur which were a little difficult to get shipped all the way over from France.

I've since tried the L'Oreal and the Garnier before picking up the Nivea version for Glastonbury. I still had the Garnier one in my stash but as the bottle was so big I didn't want to carry it all the way to the festival with me nor did I want to run out, so I picked up this one for a change.

001

I mainly chose this one as it was a smaller size (200ml) which was perfect for 5 days of festival antics and it was one that I hadn't tried. It was also tailored for sensitive skin which I knew i would experience after a few days of being unable to wash my face properly.

It claims to be a 3 in 1 micellar water which aims to cleanse deeply, remove make up and moisturise whilst also being free of parabens, colours and perfume which all sounds like a pretty perfect package to me!

003

I used this morning and night at glastonbury, I was hoping it would help keep a break out at bay by keeping my skin as clean as possible without stripping it. I also, as expected wore a lot of eye make up and copious amounts of glitter which needed quite a lot of help to remove.

It contains dexpanthenol and grape seed oil to help combat the main signs of sensitive skin; redness, tightness and dryness.

004

Using this every day had absolutely no negative effects on my skin whatsoever, it was a massive pain that i could only use face wipes and this to cleanse my face as I missed my hot water and wash cloth terribly! My skin did get a bit greyer, blotchy and definitely not as smooth but that's to be expected.

I didn't suffer too many breakouts, nor did my skin feel tight, sore or experience any redness other than what I would normally experience if I hadn't washed my face properly.

005

I thought this cleansing water was another great micellar water at a reasonable price from the high street. I do think it is a more expensive version though. This bottle normally clocks in at £4.07 for 200ml (but is currently on offer for £2.03 on the Boots website!) and so is £1.02 for 100ml.

The Garnier micellar water that I've previously posted about (here) is £3.33 for 400ml and so 83p per 100ml. I personally prefer the bigger bottle, I use a cleanser of this type regularly so a bigger bottle is much better value for me. But that aside all of the micellar waters I have tried have been on par with each other in performance which is great for the high street brands to be doing such a good job.

What do you think of high street cleansing waters such as this one? Which is your favourite?

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

Hey there!

I'm sure you've all heard of micellar water by now and have probably got a stash of your own on your dressing table. I have made my way through a few different micellar waters and the L'Oreal version was the latest one.

Having realised I was running low on a trip to Boots I noticed that the Garnier version was on offer for £2 something for a 400ml bottle, I couldn't refuse.

102

I have been using this over the last few weeks and it has been great. It removes eye make up really easily especially eye pencils such as the 24/7 eye pencils from Urban Decay which can be a bit of a nightmare to remove as they're so long lasting.

It has also been really useful for getting rid of lipstick, I tried some on the other day only to realise it was the wrong shade to go with my bright pink top and this whipped it off in a flash.

101

This was created for use on even sensitive skin which generally I don't have but my eye area is one of the most sensitive areas known to man kind! Anything seems to trigger it so it was reassuring to know that this one didn't cause a reaction. It is hypo-allergenic, and dermatologically and opthalmologically tested so it shouldn't cause a reaction but you never know!

The only issue I can see so far is that 400ml is allegedly 200 uses.....I'm not convinced. After a few uses this bottle has already visibly gone down so I can't see how it would last 200.

103

Needless to say this removes stubborn mascara and lipstick stains in one easy swipe without scrubbing and rubbing at my skin and irritating it further. Especially when it's on offer for less than £3!

Have you tried the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water? Are you a fan? Which is your favourite?

L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

Hello chaps!

Pinch punch first of the month and all that! I'm especially perky this morning knowing I am one step closer to my birthday as it's now my birthday month hooray! I have no plans as of yet so not sure why I'm so excited but it does mean the possibility of presents is close and I've been such a good girl this year....haaaaaaaa.

Anyway onto more important matters: panda eyes.

Nobody likes a human with black rings around their entire eyes, they need to stay with the pandas.
I'm a big fan of the No7 Eye make up remover especially when they have the £5 off vouchers and you can pick it up for a STEAL at £3.

But sometimes.........I'm that lazy that shaking up the oil and water solutions is just too much.

This was when I realised that hastily using up all of my mini Bioderma bottles was not quite such a savvy idea and I knew that, not being able to afford Bioderma at the mo, I needed to find a cheaper alternative and fast.

035

I'd heard multiple things about this L'oreal Micellar Solution and also of a Garnier one but as this was the first one I saw in Boots it was hastily added to my basket.

It's got quite simple packaging and although its simple it is what I prefer. Perfume bottles can be snazzy and displayed on a desk....make up remover is not quite in the same category!

This claims to be a 3 in 1 product whereby it removes make up, tones and soothes skin all in one swipe of product. It contains no alcohol or perfume and is hypo allergneic so props to L'Oreal for getting all of that sorted.

034

033

You can use it as a general make up remover or a toner and apply it using cotton wool pads onto the skin and wiping away the excess. I personally like to remove my make up with a face wipe, cleanse my face, and then remove the final traces of eye make up with this product.

I find that's the least harsh way to get all of the mascara and liner away from my sensitive eyes without scrubbing away at them and making it worse, and also it does remove make up from my lashes which seem to hold onto product for DAYS. Not a good look girls!

As I said the snap top is nice and handy, easy to dispense and actually does stop product from flying everywhere when you knock it off your dressing table (as I do most days).

036

I've been pretty impressed with the product since I bought it and use it most days to remove eye make up. After a night out I've also used it on a heavily stained red lip and it worked pretty well on that too.

I do still like the No7 oil/water eye make up remover but this has also won a place in my cupboards. I've used this to quickly clean eye make up brushes in between applications too which is always handy, especially with eye liners which you shouldn't leave to dry....

This retails at £4.99 from Boots and is currently on their 3 for 2 hair/skin/body/cosmetics etc etc deal which sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me! Get shopping ladies!

Review: La Roche Posay's Toleriane Cleanser

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

I'm back again with another skincare favourite of mine today.

I wrote a few days ago about the infamous Effaclar Duo, one of La Roche Posay's most popular products.

At the time there was a deal on, as always! And I picked up the Toleriane Cleanser too.

072

After a night out, I cannot be bothered to wash my face with hot water, cleanser and cloth.
BUT I feel bad if I only use a face wipe. My skin is finally getting to a good stage and I don't want it to get back to how it was.

So that's where the Toleriane cleanser comes in!

073

As you can see at the bottom of the picture above, this is a dermo-cleanser which will remove make up from face and eyes and works on all skin types including intolerant skin.

It's a white gel cleanser that melts onto your skin and lifts all of your make up and dirt off your face.

076

It is SO easy to use I'm still a bit shocked. You don't even have to wash this off your face, you can just let it air dry and the make up has still been removed from your face.

I love it!

At 3am after a night out, all I'm concerned about is taking my shoes off, getting into my bed and falling asleep.

This is the best product for this time of night as it's so easy to use, actually works, doesn't break the bank and my skin hasn't reacted to it at all.

074

075

It's also fragrance, surfactant, preservative and paraben free which is amazing.
This cleanser could be used by any age, any skin type at any time. I've used it in the morning when I've been in a rush (sleeping through my alarm...) coming in from work when I've had a long day and just don't have the energy, and as previously mentioned, a little bit wobbly after cocktails.

You can pick up the 200ml bottle of Toleriane cleanser from Boots for £11.00 (or 1100 points!)

What do you think of gel cleansers? Do you love the ones that melt your make up off so fast you wonder why you've never used it before?

Jolie Box UK: February

This is my 3rd Jolie Box and the first one I've blogged about.

I'm assuming every body knows what it is and you've probably seen a post with this months contents in anyway, but if you haven't then the following pictures should help you out!

Here's the box the products come in:

I quite like how simple it is, I love black, classic shapes and classic designs..this box = winner in my books!

The inside always has a 'menu' type card, which I love, and the addition of a new drawstring bag with this month's box:

I originally thought the bag was a bit pointless, but as I'm trying to make an effort to be eco-friendly I think this is an improvement on the shredded paper and tissue that normally lines the boxes. I also took the bag to London with me to protect my camera getting scratched so it can be reused :)

The products are shown below:

On the left in the photo below is the Taaj Himalaya Micellar Water (an anti-oxidant make up remover) and on the right is the Lavera organic hand cream

I haven't tried the make up remover yet, I'm saving it until I've finished off my old one (trying to get rid of as many 'old' things as possible!) but the hand cream smells and feels divine! I'm not a hand cream fan but I'm increasingly using it as I seem to have quite a lot and my hands feel better for it. This hand cream is organic and has almond and shea butter in, I can smell these in the cream but if I close my eyes I SWEAR it smells like chocolate orange! Might just be me tho...ha

Another thing to note is that the make up remover contains water from the Himalayas....is this just a gimmick or does it genuinely have properties worth trekking there for?? I'm not sure yet!

I am yet to buy into the Moroccan oil, Argan oil etc hype, but I was pleased to see this full size sample of the Macademia Oil Deep Repair Masque.
M has used Macademia oil before and loves it, so I'm intrigued!

I have high hopes for it, although I'm not sure how many applications I'll get from the sachet. I'm hoping to get 2, but my hair is quite long so that might not happen!

The Jane Iredale Lip and Cheek stain also intrigued me, it goes on clear and then reacts to your skin and mood to give a pink colour that suits you.
I'm never convinced that these can change that much, I understand it reacts to heat and chemicals on your skin, but does it really give that much of a difference?

That being said, I LOVE how small it is, next to it is a miniature Posie Tint, just to show you how small it really is! Too cute for words. And apparently its quite pricey for the full size, around £20.

I threw it in my bag for my weekend in London and did try it out, it gives a nice pink shade on the lips, haven't used it on my cheeks though.

The Kimia Rejuvenating Facial System is something I have never heard of and also have yet to try.
It contains a facial oil that you massage into the face before spraying on an activator.

Will be saving this for an evening when I have time to use it properly.
I'm looking into using oils to clean my face as I hear they can be extremely beneficial so this will be a good test to see if they suit my skin.

Do you sign up to any Beauty Boxes?

I love the idea of them, but as I no longer have a job I think I'm going to cancel my subscription, it doesn't interest me so much and the money isn't something I feel is justified by the products.
That, and I'm determined to get through the absolute mountain of products I've accumulated over the past few years...you would be horrified if you could see my room!

If you want to hear about a specific product then let me know, I think otherwise though unless its absolutely amazing or completely rubbish I might not bother, as I'm afraid these products don't excite me much as of yet...this might change when I try the hair masque and the facial oil!
