Benefit's Puff Off

Hey All

L and I were lucky enough to try this product before it was released (you can read about that here). As soon as we tried it we both knew we had to have it when it was released, and not just for the pretty packaging!

064

065

Here's the blurb from Benefit:

Why we love it!

Iron on…puff off! Undereye puffiness and creases look “satiny smooth” with our innovative undereye gel. The custom “ironing” tip instantly helps smooth the look of undereye puffiness & fine lines. Iron away for a smoother day!

94% said eye area looks smoothed*
*Consumer panel survey on 31 women after 7 days

Essentially this product is a cooling eye gel with a small amount of concealer like product contained within it, the squeezy tube has an 'iron' shaped tip to it to dispense and apply the gel to skin.

066

067

This is also known as the 'custom “ironing” tip' and we think it looks pretty cool! Not only does it appear to 'iron' out the creases in your delicate undereye skin it's actually really comfortable to use on your skin, it's the perfect shape and it cools on contact with your skin making it feel like you're wearing a face mask.

075

076

All you need to do is apply a dot of the eye gel under each eye and spread the gel out using the iron, it's super simple and can be applied on bare skin and over make up - great for the morning puffy eyes that sometimes happens and also you can apply this throughout the day. I'd definitely apply this at my desk during the day when things have been a bit busy and I need a few minutes to relax!

068

069

070

The tube holds 10ml of product which is a similar size to any other eye products and costs £22.50

072

As you can probably tell, we're big fans of this product. I always think I don't need 'another' product to add to my make up bag but I've really enjoyed this one and frequently use it in the mornings to help my bags reduce and also in the evenings/Sundays as a cooling eye mask. It really works to reduce the bags under your eyes and give you a cooling feeling that relaxes you.

I wouldn't say this is an essential product but it is definitely a treat, and everyone needs treats right?!

Have you tried Puff Off? What did you think of it?

We love Benefit's new products - they've been bringing out some really good ones recently with this and Roller Lash!

Nip and Fab: Viper Venom Eye Fix

Hi all!

As M mentioned in her post last week she will be taking a back seat (so to speak) over the next few months whilst she has tonnes of work on, so we have decided to move our joint Sunday posts to Mondays and you will have to make do with listening to L ramble on a bit more! Hopefully in a few weeks or so M will have a lot more time to write and review again.

Today's joint review is another Nip and Fab product from the Viper Venom range; the Eye Fix.

017

The Eye Fix is a rollerball product which dispenses a gel/serum like product around the eye area.

It contains Liftonin and Syn-ake to smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and also Red Algae Extract to reduce the look of dark circles. It all sounds pretty good to us!

The black and lime green packaging is also really cool too, I love that each range from Nip and Fab is colour coded to fit the products, i.e. yellow for the Bee range and red/orange for the Dragon's Blood.

027

The first thing I liked about this product was how easy it was to use. I've never used rollerball products that much but I loved this one, it felt cooling and the product was dispensed evenly. There wasn't any need to get your fingers (and potential bacteria) involved at all but i do like the rub any last bits into the skin myself as I'm usually in a rush to put my eye cream on!

026

I have been using this for the last few weeks morning and night, just rolling it all over my eye area from brow bone to just above my cheek and it sinks in pretty quickly. The eye area is something I am very aware of in terms of ageing so I try my best to give it the hydration it needs. My skin has definitely felt more hydrated since using it and the crepey effect of skin when it is dehydrated has reduced. I love how easy it is to pile on and just leave to sink in and you could pretty much apply this without the need for touching your skin at all.

It gets the thumbs up from me!

You can buy the Viper Venom Eye Fix from Boots for £14.95 normally but its currently on offer for £9.97. you can also buy this in the Viper Venom Duo Set which is also currently on offer for £16.63 instead of £24.95 and contains the serum which we have previously posted about here (and fully recommend FYI!)

Have you tried anything from Nip and Fab? What's your favourite? Do you like using products containing ingredients such as bee sting and viper venom?

I'd fully recommend anything from their range so far!

028

Hey All

As L said life is getting on top of me a bit lately and I needed a break but after spending so long on the blog with L I wasn't quite ready to give it all up. Without her support I'd have definitely given it all up a long time ago so I'm very grateful to have her help me out with something I love.

Skincare is something I always push myself to use so when Nip and Fab was on a massive offer in Debenhams a few months back I couldn't resist stocking up!

029

My eyes are probably my biggest concern. I look at my mum and see her's and I'm pretty sure that's how mine will end up. We have quite a lot of eyelid and her's have sagged a bit so I'm hoping a good skincare regime will help me prolong it for a littler while.

030

I've used a few roller ball products before. Like the garnier concealer thing. I'm not convinced that ever really worked. I love the feeling of the roller ball on the eyes as the metal means it feels cooling and soothing which after a had day I find relaxing and first thing in the morning helps to wake me up.

I've been using it in conjunction with the serum we posted last week and have used both as an addition to my skincare so I apply this before an eye cream. I love the soothing feeling of it and my under eye area has definitely felt smoother and more hydrated over the past few weeks.

As L has mentioned in previous posts we definitely have developed a massive love for all things Nip and Fab. I've not found anything I dislike yet.

What's your skincare routine?

Love M

Skincare Wardrobe - Update

Hello!

I keep meaning to write this post for SUCH a long time now that I thought it was about time it actually got done.
Since starting this blog I have of course spent a shed load of money on various products but primarily on skin care. When starting this blog I was a culprit of using only a face wipe and occasionally eye make up remover along with moisturiser as my daily routine. This shocks me immensely and I now cannot believe I did this!

Obviously I soon realised this wasn't going to cut it and I have significantly changed my 'Skincare Wardrobe' if you like, and here is the updated contents!

I currently use this box which contained a Christmas present in 2011. It isn't ideal as I'd prefer to have them all standing upright but nevertheless it's a great box for me to separate my skincare products from others (ever so slightly...)

025

So trying to get things in some sort of order I will start with cleansers.
This is what I am currently using;

001

Origins Checks and Balances, a lovely minty foamy face wash which is one of those that gives your skin a deep clean and leaves it with that 'tight feeling', sometimes I love this feeling and others I don't so it's nice to have options. This is where...

Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish comes in, a creamy cleanser applied to dry skin that miraculously removes all types of make up so easily. It feels great on my skin and did so when I had oily skin and now with my dry/combination skin and we are both fans of this cleanser.

Having used these two primarily for the past few months I'm pretty happy with how they work for my skin. However on those nights when I come in quite late (4am is getting to be quite a regular time for me!) it's a little bit too loud to start running hot water and splash around in the bathroom waking everyone up.

For this reason I picked up La Roche Posay's Toleraine Gel Dermo Cleanser which you just rub into your skin and then remove either with a muslin cloth or wet wipe, which is what I use at 4am. It isn't ideal I would agree as I'd prefer hot water but definitely better than just the wet wipe as this removes every trace of make up even mascara and lipstick!
I am yet to post about this but so far I'm loving it especially as it's so easy and fuss free.

The Clarins eye make up remover was given to both myself and M just before Christmas at a Pharmacy event in Cardiff. I'd been using micellar water before that but this make up remover is great, requires minimal 'scrubbing', doesn't sting my eyes and gets rid of all traces.

Next up is Exfoliators:

006

These are without a doubt some of my favourite products to come out of my 'Skincare Epiphany'.

Origin's Modern Friction is well renowned for being good but I just adore how quick the results are from using it and although it's expensive, even with a use of 2/3 times a week this huge tube has lasted me months.
I'm about half way through and have had it well over 8 months, would 100% recommend.

Murad's AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser is something we posted about recently and I truly believe this will be staying in my weekly routine for a long time to come. Not only because this huge bottle will also last you a while but because the effects are again pretty quick and show up after 4/5 uses which is great considering it feels like a normal cleanser.
The acids and tiny tiny jojoba beads (which feel like a powder!) definitely have a positive effect on my skin sloughing off cells and revealing a glow. Basically.....buy it!

Origins have also brought out Brighter By Nature which I got as a GWP (Gift with Purchase) before Christmas time. These pads are filled with enzymes and fruit acids and just require a swipe over the face for them to work their magic. These feel great and are definitely a less abrasive way to exfoliate your skin on days where a scrub just isn't what you're looking for.

A definite new addition to my weekly routine are masks:

010

As you can see I have an array, and what is quite clearly becoming an obsession with Origins, yikes! so from L-R...

Drink Up Intensive - another GWP and still going strong, this is the intensive overnight version of the other Drink Up mask coming up. This was the first hydrating mask I'd ever used and even on my then oily skin, was absolutely amazing and didn't break me out.
The next three; Clear Improvement, Out of Trouble and Drink Up were all bought together in a set after using up my first Out of Trouble mask. I absolutely love it for getting rid of blemishes and reducing spot size! 100% recommendation from me.
Clear Improvement and Drink up are both great for when my skin is in need of them, the charcoal definitely helps to reduce pore size and the Drink up is great for when my skin feels dry but is breaking out and too much hydration might overbalance my skin,

REN's Glycolactic Radiance Renewal mask really does do what it says on the tin (tube?), it smells like oranges, feels like orange juice and marmalade whizzed together and takes me to a happy summery place as well as making my skin look renewed.

Eye products:

014

Having never used an eye cream before this blog my collection is certainly increasing!

Starting with Origins Eye Doctor: I picked this up due to my severely dry eyes and sore skin due to rubbing my eyes. I've still got no idea what has happened to make my body so depleted in hydration regarding my skin and eyes and lips, but this was my first eye cream which I chose due to it's lack of any kind of chemicals at all. It's so hydrating and as I was so worried at the time about a reaction, it's the perfect comfort blanket for me to go back to.
The same with the No Puffery eye gel, it's so soothing and helps my eyes relax after a long day at work. This and Eye Doctor combined helped to reduce my dry eye effects and eliminate the lines I was getting around my eyes, presumably from dehydration.

Ginzing was next on my list when I felt more comfortable and I love it's reflecting properties for day wear when i have massive bags under my eyes.

Starting Over is a recent addition as it was on sale and I couldn't resist picking it up to rid myself of potential crows feet! It's thicker than the Eye Doctor cream and I will be writing about it soon.

Eysilix was picked up in a 3 for 2 deal a few weeks ago so is what I am currently trialling. I like the small nozzle and how it allows a small amount out each time, but I'm not sure if my eyes like the cream as i think they sting sometimes after use. Will have to investigate this!

Serums and oils:

015

Clearly my anti-aging and anti-blemish tendencies are running away with me here!

Both Antipodes and Clarins oils I have written before and I am in complete love with them both and they transformed my opinions on oils for oily skin.

Aesop's Parsley seed Serum is something I have been using recently and am interested in how it will affect my skin. I've heard rave reviews!

The Make a Difference Serum is absolutely gorgeous. Sinks in like a dream and I'm completely gutted to find out that it was only available at Christmas time exclusively from Selfridges. Heart broken!

Pepta Bright and Hydraluron were the other 2 items I picked up in my 3 for 2 deal with Eysilix (Indeed Labs got me good!). Hydraluron is a great extra step for adding in more hydration as it sinks in easily and doesn't clog your pores but my skin feels a lot more hydrated.
Pepta Bright has definitely had a brightening effect on my skin and I'm pretty sure has also helped to reduce the size and colour of the scars on my face but shhhhhhhhhh let's not say that too loudly as it might stop working! Posts on all of the Indeed Labs products will be up in the future when I feel like I've tested them properly.

Lastly onto moisturisers and other bits:

017

My first and only product from Apivita is this gorgeous organic lip balm with honey which has been a saviour in keeping my dry lips from worsening. It's been a god send in work as it's not a pot and really moisturises.

I'm sure everyone on the planet has heard of Effaclar Duo and I am one of them having picked it up a few weeks ago during a mass break out on my skin. It works a treat on drying up the white heads but on my bigger spots it only helped to reduce redness and size, not eliminate it completely. It works great but it isn't a miracle worker so don't expect it to remove all traces of a zit!

Normaderm is one of my favourite day moisturisers as it sinks in so easily and doesn't add to the oil on your skin. It prevents breakouts and helps combat scars and all other blemishes and it just works. This was a god send when I had oily skin and I still use it now, get it! You won't regret it.

Perfect World was a freebie from Origins when you took in an empty bottle of moisturiser and its taken me a while to warm up to it. Initially confined to the bottom of the pile it's now a firm favourite with my dry skin especially for day time due to it's SPF 25. Really loving this now!

Make a Difference is something I posted about fairly recently and am still raving about. The rejuvenating treatment glides onto skin and your skin drinks it up in seconds. It's helped to reduce scarring, even out blemishes and skin tone generally and hydrated my skin without overdoing it. Love.

This has been a gargantuan post and if you got bored I'm rather sorry, I had no idea there was quite that much to write about.
I have learnt a few things:

a) I'm obsessed with Origins

b) I need to condense my skincare down. Nobody needs this much on a daily/weekly basis!

c) Skincare is expensive but worth every penny, you only get one face which everyone sees every day, spending £30 on one skincare item lasting 6 months is much better value for money than £60 on shoes you'll wear once!

Have you written up your Skincare Wardrobe?? Do you have as much as me?? What are your favourite products and brands?

Review: Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner and Brush

Hello all!

I hope your weekend has started well.

I'm actually going to a hen weekend of the first of my friends to be getting married, so I'm sat at home writing this on a Friday night whilst surrounded by all manner of shoes, dresses and make up!

My bag is bulging and I haven't even begun with the accessories and make up eek!

A few weeks ago I picked up this beauty from the Cosmetics Company Outlet in Swindon.

If you've never been to one of those shops then I seriously recommend it, owned by Estee Lauder it has an array of Mac, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Smashbox, Ojon and Origins amongst others for you to get your product greedy mitts on just like me for a discounted price!

I personally spend a rather generous sum and I hope one day to own the whole shop.

I was lucky enough to buy Smashbox's infamous waterproof eye liner along with the matching brush (Arced Liner Brush #21) to use together and I have to say, I'm completely converted to using the brush!

I obviously bought the liner in black, there were other colours present but wanting to get the best value and check out the product first I bought it in black for maximum wear.

The brush you can see below is really thin and has quite long hairs matched with an angled tip making it easier to line your eyes without your arms getting in the way and stopping you from being able to see....wicked!

I'd never used a brush like this so was a bit suspicious but I've been told multiple times how amazing they are so just caved and snapped it up!

I like that the brushes are bright red making them easy to find in amongst the darker packaging of my other make up. I like things to be kept simple but this is massively helpful at 6am!

The design of the pot is pretty bog standard, glass pot with screw on lid, nothing too out there!

Look at the pot of smoothness!

It's so creamy and easy to apply I cannot say a bad thing about it.
This cost me £11 at CCO but normally retails for £16.

I wouldn't spend £16 on a gel eyeliner as I know that Maybelline's is rather good and I am quite a big fan of it, and couldn't justify spending the extra £10 on something that although is amazing, isn't £10 amazing.

However for an extra £5 I think this liner is worth every penny!

It's so creamy and easy to apply, easy to mop up mistakes (as long as your quick!) and stays put all day whether wind, rain or shine.
Even at the end of the day however it swipes off with a tiny bit of make up remover and requires no rubbing.

It's just like the Maybelline one which was my first love, but better.
I'd definitely pick this up again from CCO!

Here's a few pictures of it working it's magic...:
Untitled

The one below shows me without mascara so you can see the liner better.
I did edit it on my phone, but as black is black it hasn't edited the colour at all.

Untitled

The one below has mascara on the top lid, and shows a bigger flick.

The brush makes it so easy to do these neatly and quickly and only requires a baby wipe to clean off during the week!
Untitled

What do you think of the gel eye liner? Are you a fan of them?

What other Smashbox products have you tried?
This was one of my first and I've loved it!

Review: Origins No Puffery Eye Cooling Gel

I don't know what your collections are like, but mine didn't contain anything from Origins until a few weeks ago.

It was like your first trip to Mac when you realise that actually perfect make up can be found, their skincare range is AMAZING!

I slowly wandered my way around Boots and ended up at their counter for an hour probably! The assistant was so nice and helpful. This was what I left the stand with:

I actually only bought one thing, the others are all testers which i was so excited about.
Everybody loves a few samples to test but this was like Christmas for me!
I've never had that many given to me, especially from a brand that is as renowned as Origins is.

I was originally attracted to the stand because it was new in Boots, and although I've seen it around other stores, I am very particular about buying as much as I can from Boots and saving my points..... With the exception of Mac most brands can be found in Boots and to be honest it's had all I've ever wanted.

So I wandered over with the knowledge that I almost definitely wasn't going to be walking away with nothing!

I'd been looking for an eye product for a while, my eyes have been really sensitive for the past few months and wearing lenses has been a nightmare so I was looking for something with minimal chemicals and maximum effect.

The assistant advised me about Origins and their philosophy of not using certain chemicals, when she showed me the list of chemicals that they do not use in any products I was SO pleased.

Why on earth had I never bought something from Origins?!

Ok so maybe the price tags on the products aren't exactly purse friendly, but I'm beginning to realise that spending more on a pair of shoes than I do on my own face might not be such a good idea!

It took me a long time to decide which product I wanted most, originally I wanted a cream, but after trying their 'No Puffery' eye gel I was instantly won over.

The cooling effect on my hand was exactly the kind of feeling I wanted on my eyes and ever since I've bought it it has been my best friend!

It has honestly made such a difference to my tired and puffy eyes at night, I apply it just before I go to bed most nights and it soothes them whilst I sleep.

When I wake up I have eyes that are no longer sore and red and puffy, which I can tell you was such a relief after trying so many other products.

The ingredients can be seen here if you wish:

I also left the shop with the following samples:

GinZing eye cream, High Potency Night A Mins Night Cream, A Perfect World SPF 25 Moisturiser and Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask.

I am saving all of these for my upcoming plane journey, it will give me something to do on the plane and also are perfect for taking in hand luggage with all of the restrictions!

However I have used one of the GinZing samples and I managed to make it last me a whole week and I am in LOVE!
I've already saved up enough points to buy another product and have already made my choice (...will feature in a post soon!) however the next item on my list afterwards is definitely the GinZing eye cream.

Do you use any Origins products? Anything I should without a doubt add to my shopping list?

I can see me and the assistant in Boots are going to be good friends if my next purchase turns out to be just as amazing!!
