Morning all!
Even though this week has been a 4 day week it has been so long! I can't wait for the weekend to come, I'm planning on going shopping with my mum and catching up with some friends. I still have some vouchers to spend from my birthday so I'm planning on getting some new foundation to try out.
For the last few months I've been obsessed with my Beauty Blender, but after seeing the horror pictures where people have cut theirs open and found loads of black mould I decided it was time to try some new ones. The obvious alternative choice was the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponges, so I bought a pack of two to give them a go.
The sponges are made from a revolutionary foam to give a smooth, even finish and they are latex free so no issues with allergies. You can use them damp or dry, the damp will help with a dewy finish and dry for full coverage. I think everyone prefers to use them damp though!
The sponges are a slightly different shape to the Beauty Blender but still in a super bright colour (I love oranges and corals at the moment, which is funny as I used to hate them!). There is still a slightly pointed end on the sponge, I find this really useful for getting in around my nose and eyes so I don't have bits missing and parts that are unblended. The point is also useful for covering up spots and other blemishes for a higher coverage and we all need that at some point!
However I particularly love the other end, the wedge is GREAT! I really like this flat edge and it helps when applying foundation to my full face as it spread the product really quickly, but also for the eye area. It's perfect for blending out concealer under the eyes as I always use a lighter colour and I find it gives a great finish that's fully blended in.
A single sponge will cost £5.99 from Boots, a double pack will cost £9.99 and a 4 pack will cost £17.99. They also have a multi pack of different shapes and sizes for £19.99 that i may have to try in future!
They recommend changing the sponge every 1-3 months, I'd say this is reasonable considering how much you would use it and I try and wash mine as often as possible to minimise build up of foundation and bacteria.
I've used baby shampoo, the soap that comes with a Beauty Blender and some other designated brush/sponge wash that I've forgotten about now, and all of them were successful in washing out any excess product so that was really good.I did worry that some of the colour might come out, over time my Beauty Blender leached colour every wash and became much paler, but these are definitely still a bright orange.
You can see some images below of my make up after using the Real Techniques sponges, it gives a really even dewy finish and depending on the foundation (currently Dior Forever foundation)
I really love them and will continue to buy them! I'm definitely tempted to try the multi pack with the variety of shapes and sizes, have you tried these? What did you think?
Have you tried any other make up sponges similar to this? Have you tried the dual ended or the diamond shaped sponge?
Let me know your thoughts!
