OPI - Oz The Great and Powerful

As well as my naughty purchase the other week when I ordered the OPI Bond Girl Liquid Sands, I also picked up the OPI Oz The Great and Powerful set as well, oops!

I couldn't resist and had heard such great things about the liquid sand in this collection and nudes, particularly from OPI are great for any collection.

014

016
I also love the names, as usual!

I Theodora You is a sheer pink
Glints of Glinda is a classic beige
Don't Burst my Bubble is a sheer white
What Wizardry is This is the liquid sand, a beautiful taupe with a matte shimmer.

First up is What Wizardry is This.

056

This is the liquid sand from the collection and as I said before in the Bond Girl post, I was so unsure of the texture and effect of the liquid sands.
However with the Bond Girl collection and this one I have been completely won over.

This is beautiful in the light, in the dark and in just about any situation possible. The classic taupe colour means it will suit most skin tones and most outfits, but the texture and shimmer bring it bang up to date and wearable to work, lunch dates, pub trips and Saturday nights out.

058

Look at it glimmer!

I Theodora You is the first nude I tried, and it's the sheer pink.

064

I do love nude pinks and this one is a really nice colour, but I think these are a bit too sheer for me.
They'd be perfect for work as they're a 'your nails but better' kind of shade and aren't too opaque to stand out.
However these ones are very sheer, and the photo below shows my nails after 2 coats so I was disappointed with this as theyre still very streaky and I'm not sure further coats would be able to sort this out completely.

065

Next up is Glints of Glinda:

069

The name to me suggests that it should be a glitter which was a little disappointing!
This is actually a classic beige, but again its a sheer polish. This is not as sheer as I Theodora You, and the colour is a lot more consistent.

Again its a 'your nails but better' shade that wouldn't show up too much if you have to be conservative at work.
I can imagine this would be great in winter too as this kind of beige colour will look great with the winter berry colours!

068

Lastly we have Don't Burst my Bubble which is a sheer white.

On first impression this one is very like Essie's Ballet Slippers. I forgot to take a photo after painting my nails with it so below the photos show it with some clear glitter on the ends (oops!)

Untitled

This was after 2 coats and I will definitely use this as its so similar to Ballet Slippers and is probably the one that I will use most out of the nudes.

Untitled

I think I will use Don't Burst my Bubble and What Wizardry is This the most as the liquid sand is so unique and the other is so wearable. I Theodora You and Glints of Glinda were a little disappointing as they were so sheer and out of all the polishes available I think the mini collection could have been a lot more exciting, 3 nudes in one limited edition collection is far too many.

What do you think of the collection? Do you like this many nudes? What do you think of the Liquid Sands?

A Weekend of Change

I fancied doing a different post today. So I thought I'd share my weekend with you. It started off better than expected. The results to the exams I sat in may were released a week earlier than expected and I'd done better than expected and was really pleased. Definitely started my weekend on a high.

Untitled

My hair pre dye!

My Saturday morning started with a trip to the hairdressers. I'd got a highlights packaged off KGB deals for a bargain price. It didn't start off brilliantly with the hairdressers opening very late!!

Untitled

In the hair dressers. My pink from Christmas time was still in my hair and as the bleach was developing I was worried as I had a pink band but luckily it all came out.

Untitled

But I'm really pleased with how my hair turned out and it's nice to be back blonde. I've not been blonde since November and I had really started to miss it.

As L needed to pop into town on Saturday we met up for coffee and shopping. I wanted an opinion on a faux leather skirt I'd bough the week before too.

This is the skirt but in black. Which isn't online for some reason. It was only £16.99 but it's a great material and looks like a really good faux leather.

I gave blood on Friday night so celebrated with a new piercing. I've wanted a new piercing for a while but always put if off due to having to wait a while before giving blood again. I fancied going for it this weekend after Blue Banana have piercings for £10 (£15 if you go for the premium metal like I did). The offer is online if you have a Blue Banana near you.

I couldn't decide between a few. I'm a huge surface piercing fan and really want my neck re-pierced (I had it done but a very drunk 21st birthday meant I lost it) but due to being a bridesmaid with my hair up in August I decided to wait.

Untitled

Just after it was pierced. The guy warned me they can be big bleeders there but I was lucky.

I went with the surface piercing on my tragus that isn't pierced. For any wondering it hurt a little but only lasted a few seconds and didn't hurt much after. I do have to be careful when I'm washing my face as I have to be gentle with my skin.

Untitled

All clean. I hope it heals well. I've just noticed I'm missing the stone in my piercing!

L and I went to our fair share of shops. I was trying to be good but there were some very beautiful dresses around. L got tempted and I can definitely see me borrowing the beautiful one she got. We both have different shapes but can share some clothes! She's eyeing up my new skirt too!!

On Sunday it was such a beautiful day I didn't want to spend it in doors. I strolled over to my local Starbucks and realised it had a garden out back. It was lush to relax there and read my book for a bit.

Untitled

It was such a nice chilled weekend and I'm excited for the week to come. It's my birthday this week. L and I are celebrating with afternoon tea and a spa day, my parents are visiting for a meal and I'm going home on Friday and off out with friends!! I can't wait for Thursday to hurry up!!

Hope you all had great weekends and could enjoy the sun!

Lush Event in Cardiff

A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to be invited to the event at the Lush store in Cardiff to try out some of their products after hours which was great opportunity we just couldn't turn down.

It's fair to say I'm a huge Lush fan. At the event they were going through suggestions and I'd tried a lot of it. I   do tend to stick to what I know with lush products though. My cleanser of choice has always been Herbalism (you can read my Lush Skincare loves here).

102

Angels on bare skin works in a similar way. You only need just over a pea sized amount and mix with water in your hand to make a paste to apply to the skin.  The solid cleansers are great if you are travelling as they won't leak. I find the pot lasts just over a month when used morning and night which is pretty good.

Angels on bare skin is a gentle cleanser that any skin type can use. It contains loads of natural ingredients which have different benefits.

103

Ground Almonds are used for toning and brightening, kaolin to absorb grease and gently cleanse, vegetable glycerine to soften and moisturise and other essential oils. The addition of lavender flowers help to gently exfoliate.

I love that if you return 5 lush pots you get a free face mask. It's great that they recycle and give motivation to do so.

105

I do find this cleanser does sting the eyes so I do have to remove my eye make up pre cleanse which being lazy lately I have got out of the habit of. But using my favourite No7 make up remover sorts this out and is a step I should really be doing anyway (Review here).

I've definitely been converted to try the other cleansers. This one is great.

I really want to try some of the hair treatments after going to the event and I'm definitely interested in their henna hair dyes. Next time I go dark I'll be trying them.

We also got to try the make up range. I absolutely loved the lipstick colours. They had amazing colours but I did find it almost peeled off so it's not something I'd buy. They did have gorgeous eye shadow colours and liners that I definitely want to try though.

I think I'll always be a lush fan and there hasn't been much I don't like.

Untitled

I'm the opposite of M and am in fact a Lush novice. I'm not quite a virgin as I've been lucky enough to try their products before but I've never been that into it.

Most of the time I'm turned off by the fact the products have such a short use by date, as I'm a fickle creature and like to vary my products depending on current requirements as my skin has been quite indecisive of late. That combined with varying jobs in different environments and my skin takes a battering so I've always stuck to products less likey to go off so I can get my full use out of them as my needs change.

Having the chance to wander around the store after hours was brilliant, and I smelt and tried so many products that I wouldn't have had the chance to with the usual crowds. Bohemian soap is probably the biggest thing on my wish list at the moment, the smell is actually unbelievable and I'd be half tempted to carry it around with me just to smell it!

Untitled

That being said I was pleasantly surprised with how much i liked the effects from Angels on Bare Skin. The rough texture was daunting at first but my skin feels super smooth after using it for a few days and a longer time period after that I'm pretty impressed. My skin had no reaction to it and if anything has improved over the past few weeks.
I credit the almonds with this as I'm a huge fan of eating them so clearly in my cleanser they work wonders too ;)

It did feel weird effectively rubbing food on my face but knowing the ingredients were natural meant I didn't think too much about it, and it smells pretty good.

I was lucky enough to be given a sample of their BIG shampoo as well, which I'm rather looking forward to. I'm saving it for the next time i go away so I can save on space so I'm sure there will be a future tweet with my thoughts!

107

Are you a Lush fan?? Have you tried Angels on Bare Skin? What's your favourite Lush product?

I can see myself buying more if the results are so promising from all products!

Review: La Roche Posay's Toleriane Cleanser

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

I'm back again with another skincare favourite of mine today.

I wrote a few days ago about the infamous Effaclar Duo, one of La Roche Posay's most popular products.

At the time there was a deal on, as always! And I picked up the Toleriane Cleanser too.

072

After a night out, I cannot be bothered to wash my face with hot water, cleanser and cloth.
BUT I feel bad if I only use a face wipe. My skin is finally getting to a good stage and I don't want it to get back to how it was.

So that's where the Toleriane cleanser comes in!

073

As you can see at the bottom of the picture above, this is a dermo-cleanser which will remove make up from face and eyes and works on all skin types including intolerant skin.

It's a white gel cleanser that melts onto your skin and lifts all of your make up and dirt off your face.

076

It is SO easy to use I'm still a bit shocked. You don't even have to wash this off your face, you can just let it air dry and the make up has still been removed from your face.

I love it!

At 3am after a night out, all I'm concerned about is taking my shoes off, getting into my bed and falling asleep.

This is the best product for this time of night as it's so easy to use, actually works, doesn't break the bank and my skin hasn't reacted to it at all.

074

075

It's also fragrance, surfactant, preservative and paraben free which is amazing.
This cleanser could be used by any age, any skin type at any time. I've used it in the morning when I've been in a rush (sleeping through my alarm...) coming in from work when I've had a long day and just don't have the energy, and as previously mentioned, a little bit wobbly after cocktails.

You can pick up the 200ml bottle of Toleriane cleanser from Boots for £11.00 (or 1100 points!)

What do you think of gel cleansers? Do you love the ones that melt your make up off so fast you wonder why you've never used it before?
